Jewel Hampton announced he's leaving. Brandon Wegher asked for his release from scholarhsip and was granted it. No word where both are headed but I would guess Wegher is going to one of the Dakotas to play right away. hampton is still a year away from playing roughly so I don't envision he's in a rush to declare. Also, a rumor that the team is now doing random drug testing and that several players were caught. This is alleged. |

I think you should be drug tested. |

Post subject: | Re: The caravan out of Iowa City |
So the rumor on the street is the following starters/2nd stringers were random tested and found to be on some substance (random, sure) DE: Christian Ballard, Broderick Binns WR: Marvin McNutt, Keenan Davis RB: Adam Robinson, Jewel Hampton (who was kicked off for 3rd offense - had DUI and other minor charge) CB: Jordan Bernstine Missouri Tigers, 2010 Insight Bowl Champs. Also, explains alot about Iowa's year. |

With DJk already out, and now maybe Marvin Mcnutt, who will Stanzi have to throw too, can't think of his name but number 22 and tight ends. |

Well,if the rumors are true and McNutt/DJK/Davis are out. (McNutt and Davis are on the alleged list but neither have past indiscretions) you have Colin Sandeman who's a possession receiver, Don Nordmann a 5th year senior who has seen little action, Paul Chaney Jr, a 3rd year player with a ton of speed and no hands and perhaps Jordan Cotton, RS FR who has seen time on special teams but no game time at receiver. |

Just watching the twitter feeds - word is 10-20 will be suspended/released. Interested to see if this actually happens. Insight Bowl is off the board right now in Vegas. |

If every college team did random drug test and booted kids for failing, you wouldn't have college teams. |

I don't want to speak for the Big Ten Posse but I think we are going to have to put Vince on probation. |

Where there is smoke..... The Iowa policy on drug testing is that a first offense = community service...second is suspension. |

It sounds like at least for now that the rumors were overblown. There are obviously still some issues but Iowa should get past this just fine. The bowl game could be tough though. |

So you either get a team comes together and plays up to their caliber and somehow beats a pretty good Mizzou team OR plays like a beaten team and gets the doors blown off. At this point, I'm not sure which we will see. |

Ferentz can get a team ready to play, I remember when they went to the Alamo to play Texas, Iowa was struggling at the end and I heard one guy say Texas would win 40-13, but Iowa played tough and could have won, but lost 29-24. I almost wonder if Ferentz after the year and all this, thinks maybe it's time to go to the pro's if somebody still wants him, there could be a lot of jobs available. |

He's not leaving for two simple reasons....1) His son is still there. 2) You see all the shitstorm from this season? Do you see his name on the hot seat? Nope - he has the ultimate job security. It was 26-24 and Kirk took a dump that game asking to take a risk when they have great field position and only down by 2 and ran a BS WR reverse pass that ended up losing 10 yards. If you remember too, Iowa started up 14-0, and I don't remember the score at the time, but they scored a touchdown, but the refs called illegal formation and it wasn't, if it counted like it should have Iowa may have blown out Texas. |

That is known as the Scott Chandler play or as a Purdue fan would remember, the Dallas Clark play that beat them in 2002.Hey Rick, you remember that one? That was a great play! |

I think Robinson will be asked to leave the school after this: http://www.kcci.com/sports/26299930/detail.html A Hawkeye football player was arrested and charged with marijuana possession Monday night in Polk County, officials said Tuesday. Adam Robinson The Iowa State Patrol said Adam Robinson, 21, was arrested at 10:45 p.m. Spokeswoman Courtney Greene said Robinson was a passenger in a car that was stopped by troopers. She said he was arrested for possession of marijuana, cited and released. Officials said a trooper stopped the vehicle because it didn't have a front license plate on East 4th Street in Des Moines. During his initial approach to the vehicle, the trooper reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officials said that was probable cause to search the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Ermin Zornic, 20, was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and OWI, pending toxicology tests. He was transported to the Polk County Jail. Robinson is a sophomore running back who did not travel with the team to Arizona to the Insight Bowl after he was suspended. He is originally from Des Moines and attended Lincoln High School. Zornic was also a football and basketball player at Lincoln High. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 5. |

This is going to sound really strange and maybe it's the black and gold glasses but I have a good feeling that getting away from Iowa City and some hard practices will have this team focused on playing to their potential and they come out with a W. I'm thinking in the 24-21 range. Again, it might just be the koolaid. |
