There are less people at the game than a Rays game. Decent game so far. Anyone else watching.

The SI article states that these bowls lose money hand over fist. This is proof.

I'm watching. It looks like only one side of the stadium is open. There is no one on the side behind the TV cameras. In fact, I don;t think there is even any stands set up there.

The bowl business compounded with the NCAA refusing to make a playoff for football, is one of the biggest scams out there.

The So Miss player's neck scar is nasty. So is Lou Holtz's voice.

I've watched many Tampa Bay Rays games from this stadium. Never have I seen the sting rays in the tank this many times.

Same here. I have family in Bradenton.

You go to Bucs and Lighting games a well? I was at the throwback game a couple of weeks ago and also saw a great Lightning vs. Avs game.

That return was Hester esque!

Louisville wins in a pretty good game. I couldn't even watch a crappy bowl without hearing Brett Favre's name.

but if you are a tourism board of a warm weather place this is a great advertisement. I have to imagine the Hawaii bowl on Christmas Eve gets enough people interested in a trip.

The Hawaii bowl is a highlight of Christmas Eve for me. It means I don't have to talk to certain family members because when they ask me annoying questions, I can answer, "I'm watching football".

See, the good part of the family I see on Christmas eve all turn the Hawaii Bowl into a drinking game (we're Irish). It's the wierdo, born-again part of the same family that doesn't drink and like to lecture us heathens on the evil of intoxication.

yep. The family that likes to have a good time is great.

It's the ones that constantly bitch about every perceived slight that make me want to hit them over the head with a tire iron.

My cousin and her mom.

She has a bigger piece of cake. That means you don't care about me as much.

Empty Jameson bottle flies toward her head.

Merry Christmas.

I could not agree with you more. Thank God for the Lakers vs. Heat game. It will limit my interaction with some of my least favorite family members.

See, Christmas Day is a-whole-nother issue. I really don't like the NBA, at all, and the Christmas Day family are a bunch of basketball rabid meatheads. Dinners have been delayed for this garbage, thus generally making me want to run for the hills. Christmas Day with my ex-inlaws (obviously when I was married) was always my saving grace, because none of them liked sports, so we would just chill and watch movies.

One can say that there is a football game on Saturday Night, but is crappy Cards vs crappy Cowpies with the crappy NFL network crew really any better?

From what people I have posted, I am a bowl person, I like watching the bowl games, but if people say a playoff would make a ton of money, then why haven't they done it yet, that's what I would ask. When you look at it, especially this year, college football couldn't get enought of ESPN's money, 33 of 35 or their family of networks. ESPN couldn't even throw their partner ABC a bone and let them keep the Rose Bowl. I wish other networks had the money to keep the big time bowl games on broadcast tv, instead of cable, namely ESPN.

On the people about the NBA christmas games, because Phil Jackson is speaking out about it, I would say Phil's right, but I think Christmas is the most boring day of the year, at least we get an NFL game, the games do help you get through the day, just don't know if you need 5 and nice for ESPN to give ABC 2 of them.

I think it's actually an honor if your team is playing NBA hoops on Christmas Day. When the Bulls face the Knicks at 11a Saturday, it'll be the first time the Bulls have played on Christmas Day since Phil's Bulls were NBA Champions themselves in the '90s. As for Phil's comments about the league playing on Christmas Day, he's going to get fined for sure by NBA Commissioner David Stern.

On Phill maybe being fined, did the Magic's Van Gundy get fined last year, because Van Gundy made some comments last year about the Magic always having to play on Christmas.
