Purdue linebackers coach DeMontie Cross is leaving the Boilermakers to accept a position at Wisconsin. But Purdue Coach, Danny Hope's reaction was kinda funny:

"There has been a tremendous amount of turnover in college coaching this year, and we are seeing what I consider an unprecedented number of coaches accept a job and leave soon after for another one," Hope said in the release. "DeMontie wasn't here long enough to make a difference, and we will get to work immediately on finding someone who will."

Oh snap.

It's crazy. The same thing has happened to IU four times this year.

Hope needs to start making a difference or Purdue will find someone who will.

Wilson is a dickbag. I wouldn't want to work with him. He used to be a Northwestern asssistant under Randy Walker. The kids hated him.

Separately, is Hope playing the hard ass card? He needs to keep his emotions in check if he wants to keep a staff together. This shit happens in this business.

From what I understand, in recruiting and in day to day operations that Hope is actually quite a good leader. The players and staff really like him. Matt Light, who was an offensive lineman at Purdue while Hope was OL coach has said that he would run through a wall for him. I think this was a fluke thing.

The problem with Hope is that he gets too emotional in regards to things outside the program like this, the RichRod saga, Ron Zook running up the score this year(which he did), and other things. He needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut instead of making it a big deal in the media.

So far I am unimpressed by Hope but I am withholding judgement until I see if the team does well this year and last year was a "too many injuries" situation.

Agreed. The jury is out whether he is just a great coach or a great HEAD coach. I frankly like him. And I think putting a little attitude into the team is not a bad thing. Frankly, he gets a big "get out of jail free" card for last year because of injuries. I still can't believe your second string offense beat my Cats!!! That was when I fully realized that Northwestern's defensive troubles were REALLY bad.

The jury is still out whether Hope is an average head coach or not.

Personally, I don't think he was ready to be a Big Ten head coach when it was given to him. Hopefully he develops into one like Fitzgerald did.
