How is the 'cats class supposed to look this year? I know they snagged a couple of pretty good prospects from Florida. |

I think it is improving, but only relative to past Wildcat classes. Christian Jones has the highest yahoo!Rivals rating in NU's class and is on the ESPN 150 list. Interestingly, five of Northwestern's 17 new Wildcats committed to another school before changing their minds. The biggest one in my mind is Deonte Gibson, a quick defensive end on the Ohio State Champs St. Ed's Eagles (my highschool's rival). We really need help there and this guy is good. I ripped off some other stats from the rivals site. Where are they from? Illinois led the way with five commitments (Frazier, Konopka, Williams, Robbins and Mark Szott), followed closely by the Buckeye State with four (Geoff Mogus, Gibson, Smith and VanHoose). New Jersey, Florida and Texas were next with two each, while the Cats picked up a sole commit from both California (Perkins) and Louisiana (Oliver). Northwestern's biggest haul was on the offensive line, where four new Wildcats will toil (Frazier, Mogus, Konopka and Mertz). The Wildcats also did some heavy lifting by landing three prospects at both wide receiver (Cameron Dickerson, Xavier Youngblood-Ary and Jones) and defensive end (Chapman, Gibson and Robbins, who could wind up at defensive tackle). The Cats also added two players at defensive back and running back, and a single quarterback, linebacker and tight end. Size matters: Northwestern went Gulliver-big at wide receiver this year, as Dickerson, Jones and Youngblood-Ary all measure 6-foot-3. Rank and file: Nine of the new Wildcats were ranked nationally at their positions, a jump from seven last year. Leading the way is Oliver, as the 26th-rated pro-style QB. The others are Chapman (30th DE), Frazier (32nd guard), Perkins (40th RB), Gibson (44th DE), Williams (53rd cornerback), Mertz (62nd tackle), Jones (69th WR) and Konopka (69th tackle).Eight members of the class achieved state rankings, led by Mertz (19th in NJ) and Konopka (19th in Illinois). Also, Matt Frazier was called one of the nation's top 5 "super sleepers" whatever that means |

me too... Dad and oldest bro were Domers, so I was raised on lighting candles in the Grotto, waiting in lines to get into the bookstore and cheering the band into the stadium before the game. I have this image in my mind that one day (probably 400 years from now) that NU could have one fifth of that gameday experience. |

The level of uspset that was is equal to Michigan losing to appalacian state |
