Ohio State and Kansas are locks as the top 2 seeds. I have heard everything from Notre Dame, Duke, Pitt, Purdue, and North Carolina for the final 2 top seeds. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Notre Dame has a really good shot to take one of the top seeds with a strong run in the Big East tourny. I see a rematch with North Carolina and Duke in the ACC finals to determine the final #1 seed.

Thoughts?

I'd say that Pitt/Notre Dame and Duke/UNC are going to be playing for #1 seeds. Purdue lost any shot at it by losing to Iowa, but it really won't much of a difference as they should be a 2 seed with a decent BTT showing.

I'd be shocked if even two #1 seeds make the final four. The best teams this year are all vulnerable.

Chris, I think your right about Kansas and Ohio State, the other 2 are down to about 3 teams in my opinoin, don't see Notre Dame or Carolina, I would say the other 3 are Pitt, Duke, and Texas. If all 3 win their conference tournamnents, then Pitt and Duke.

If BYU hadn't kicked a player off the team, they would be 1.

For my picks as of today- Ohio State, Kansas, Pittsburgh, and Duke.

I actually could see Michigan advancing as I have watched alot of big ten play and they could get really hot shooting the three vs anyone. Hardaway JR could easily get hot vs Texas A & M.

This tourny cant start soon enough.

With less than 24 hours to go, I will say the number 1 seeds are Kansas, Ohio State, Pittburgh and if Duke wins the ACC tournament, a loss and Notre Dame.

It's sad when only two teams really deserve it. Kansas and Ohio st deserve it and the rest is a crap shoot.

Your right Chris in Joliet, which probably means there will be some big upsets and maybe a 4-10 seed in the Final Four and could be more than 1.

Winner of Duke & Carolina gets the third number one see. Maybe San Diego State gets the last one with how it destroyed BYU last night. Cant see giving it to Texas as they really are a number 2 at best right now. Purdue no,Wisconsin no,Notre Dame just came on of late and got bounced from the Big East tourny. My guess would be SDSU.

Pitt is 3rd. Duke is 4th.

Pitt doesnt deserve it though.

They have the best record in the highest RPI conference, the second-best conference by Kenpom, etc. They also have a neutral court victory over Texas. Whether they "deserve a 1 seed" in some Platonic sense or not, they deserve it more than any other team in the nation but Kansas and OSU.

Pitt isn't the tough call. It's Duke/ND/SDSU. I'd say 60/30/10 percent chance of each getting the one.

Lets go Aztecs. I'm holding out hope though I'm fairly sure they will not get it. Good year all around though for my Aztecs with football finally not sucking and this epic run.

I guess your right on Pitt. I guess my thoughts changed when they lost in their first game of the Big East tourney. That and a recent loss at Louisville. Having the best record in the Big East probably does put them in. I will say you were right.

Duke probably gets it over ND though.

Post subject:  Re: Number one seeds?

I can see that, but UConn will probably be a three seed, and so will Louisville. A road and a neutral site loss to 3 seeds shouldn't be counted against them too much, or at least shouldn't be counted against them more than Duke's losses to VT and FSU, or ND's worse record.

The one saving grace for SDSU is that the committee might not want to send Duke or ND all the way to the West Coast. They'd be a historically weak one though. So would ND. Duke is about in line with normal 4th-overall 1 seeds.

Then it's mission accomplished...remember Spany, the NCAA has no desire to make any sense whatsoever.

I thought the idea of having the play in games was to have the last 4 at large teams in and out play each other, not to make the worst conference winners play each other.
