Danny Persa might not even start on Sep 3 against Boston College. Apparently, Danny's Achilles is healed, but still sore enough to make him a fraction of what he was last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kain Colter start in Chestnut Hill against BC. I'm starting to worry about my bet with Irish Boy. I get the feeling that the program is trying to downplay his limping. But anyone who watched him play last year knows that his feet have been criitical at buying him more time. He was the most sacked QB in the Big 10 and it might have been worse if he didn't have great escapability... the line needs to improve MEANINGFULLY, for Dan not to take a huge step back.

In steps Kain Colter. He proved in the last two games, that he is an athlete. He can run well. His throwing has improved, but floating passes on the out routes is going to result in a few pick sixes methinks. He reminds me a little of Scheelhaase. I think another year in the program will make him pretty impressive in 2012. Frankly, I think with our solid O-line recruiting and very good stable of WRs, that our offense looks very good for the near future.

The RB position is the big question mark. They are healthy, but no one has stepped up to be the man. Adonis Smith has the most upside due to his speed, moves, and additional size he's added. Trumpy was the man last year, but could surprise again. Jacob Schmidt is the workhorse preferred walkon who earned a scholarship and is proving to be the most consistent. Is consistentcy like saying she's got a nice personality? Maybe. But other than fumbles, Jacob has proven to be the best blocker in the backfield as well as having great receiving hands.

Regarding PersaStrong, I admit it is kinda hard to have a Heisman campaign for a guy who is likely to regress from the year previously. But as many have noted, all this campaign is an effort by the school to draw more attention to the program. I know Dan doesn't welcome this kind of attention, but he's being a champ by letting the school market him (and Fitz) as the face of the program. To reiterate, he's got no chance at the Heisman... but it's a nice effort by the school to show that we will support our athletes success.

I agree with all you say.

And I find the big 50 foot poster of Pat Fitzgerald both frightening but strangely calming.

Notre Dame has Touchdown Jesus. Northwestern has Victory Pat.
