Jeff Rapp Talked to a well-placed source tonight who says Ron Zook is out. The decision already has been made at Illinois. Guess no faith of UW upset.

I know people are wanting Zook to go, but you think about it, he did get this team to the Rose Bowl one year.

I will say this on Zook and his time at Illinois, when he had Juice, this is about 2008 and I thought Juice was playing the best at quarterback in the Big 10, then they went to play Western Michigan in Ford Field, lost and missed a bowl game and never got it going until last season.

Then had a good start, but now it's fallen apart, if Zook is gone, besides some of the suggestions, you will probably hear the names Mike Leach and Rich Rodriguez.

I heard that, Scorehead. I think it's wishful thinking, especially when you consider the whole Texas Tech incident involving the son of ESPN's Craig James and that book that also got Bruce Feldman fired from ESPN.com and has since resurfaced at CBSSports.com.

I bet there will be other high-profile coaching jobs opening up in the coming months at other schools across America. I have my doubts that Leach would be interested in the potential vacancy in Champaign.

Something else I've heard today. The SCORE's Kerry Sayers reported in one of her updates that Ron Zook threatened to cut his presser short today if talk of his future was brought up. Testy, testy...

They didn't belong in the Rose Bowl though and it was apparent by how bad they got beat. There were better teams out there that deserved a BCS bid but the Rose Bowl has to keep its "precious" tradition of PAC-12 vs. Big Ten. Only reason TCU made the game last year is because the BCS bowls agreed that they would rotate who has to take the non-AQ team.

What team deserved it over Illinois?

Missouri, they beat Illinois earlier that season.

Was there something wrong with the Cotton Bowl?

Does it pay $18 million?

Is it one of the BCS bowls?

My whole point is Illinois only got into the Rose Bowl because of technicalities, not because of actually earning it.

Illinois had just won 4 games in a row including a road win against the undefeated, #1 team in the country, a team that had won 20 Big Ten games in a row.

Missouri had just lost by 3 touchdowns to a 2-loss Oklahoma team for the 2nd time.

Missouri, they beat Illinois earlier that season.

I predicted Illinois as a 7-5 or 6-6 team, & that's exactly what they will be. Thoughts of the Illini going 9-3 or 8-4 were just tainted with orange & blue kool aid. Zook is a lousy coach, but there have also been numerous off the field player incidents that have been swept under the rug & buried.
Fire this goof & hire Mike Leach.

I'm really not sure what happened on offense. Between Jenkins, Scheelhaase, an experienced O-line, and a decent backfield, they should be doing better. Is it the coaching? I haven't seen enough games to really be sure. Dr. Ken?
