Both teams suck. Obviously IU sucks worse, but they have motivation to keep Purdue from getting bowl eligible...

Signature bet Brick?

Sure.

Something tells me we are in line for another ugly game where both teams look bad.

IU out to an early 7-0 lead.

Random odd observation: Coach Hope for Purdue is wearing a whistle around his neck. What do you do with a whistle in a game??

612 must be CSPAN6, local city hall coverage of pennsville, new jersey.

This one ranks right up there with that Apple Cup game a couple years back when Washington and Washington State had something like a combined record of 1-21 going in...

Indiana just got robbed! Big Ten has to ensure Purdue gets bowl eligible.

How about "Purdue > IU and WWN > RFDC"

You can take it down when IU plays it's next basketball game.

But that's impossible according to Purdue sports fan logic.

Don't downplay NIU's accomplishments.

They'd be a perfect team to finish 13th in the Big Ten.

Wow. I knew it was another down year for Purdue but I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. You can't even instigate well anymore.

If Purdue so happens to fail, I want Purdue's doubters to know that Purdue's failure is greater than NIU's biggest success.

Maybe you should slide on over to that "Conservatives" thread - that looks like the place to be today.

So Brick, is Hope going to be gone at Purdue?

Hopefully the Big Ten doesn't add Rice, otherwise Purdue would have to hope the refs help them every season against Indiana.

I wonder if Rice would have lost to a Kansas team that lost the next 10 games most of which by 20 points or more?

You did dominate the MAC though. Congratulations.

Id rather root for a college football team that contends every single year in its conference, than a team that contends every decade or more...

I doubt it.

I guess you can say that progress was made this year, especially when they lost the incoming starter before the first game and missed Marve in game shape for the first half of the season. One has to assume that the losses to teams like Rice will end and he's shown a decent ability to compete in the Big Ten by going 4-4 for the second time. Recruiting also seems to be taking off as it's on pace to be the highest rated recruiting class Purdue has had since these things existed.

At the start of the year, I was dreading this kind of result because it wasn't enough to know it's not working, but not enough to give up especially since they missed 7 wins by losing to Rice.

Our side of the conference is going to rough unless Penn State has a long down period or Wisconsin regresses. At least we should have Illinois to beat up on for the next decade or two.

I have a far more enjoyable college football viewing experience rooting for NiU...

No, you don't. You'd kill for the bad bowl game that Purdue is going to. You haven't seen NIU win a conference title since 1983 though you may get one this year. You'd still have as many titles as Purdue since 1990. You haven't seen NIU win at Michigan, at Notre Dame, at Penn State or against Ohio State. You haven't seen NIU play in multiple New Years Day Bowls. You haven't seen NIU in the Rose Bowl.

I guess I'd trade all that for a chance to win the MAC once every 10 years on average since 1980.

Given that my parents both went to NIU, I hope they do win it all and I'm happy for them when they win, but no, I don't care that NIU gets to play in Detroit for the MAC title.
