F-me... I'd rather just win a friggin' bowl game (last won one in 1949). Now we're in a New Year's eve bowl against a pretty good Texas A&M team. I don't like our chances. But it's kinda funny because I would have thought this is the same bowl I would have thought we'd make it to if we beat Illinois and Army (how the F did we lose that one??). I suppose if we win this one, then it will mean a bit more than if we won the Pizza Pizza bowl in Detroit.

Looks like we potentially jumped three teams to get this bowl game:
- Penn State - what is worse? losing one of the winningest coaches of all time or getting jumped by NU?
- Illinois - they beat us, but apparently the late season melt-down was enough to change their minds?
- Purdue - I suppose NU would have had just as much of a case to make this bowl as Purdue

The case for Purdue is that they were 4-4 in the Big Ten while Northwestern was 3-5. Purdue lost in Texas this year once and the fan base is apathetic while Northwestern's fans seem relatively enthused about the team still.

Illinois wasn't available I believe because they were 2 games behind Purdue in the standings. Northwestern could jump Purdue but Illinois couldn't.

Good luck.

We'll need it... here are some interesting tidbits about A&M

■They were ranked as high as 8th this season
■They beat Baylor by 27,
■They lost to Oklahoma State by 1, yes THAT Oklahoma State that was a rounding error away from playing in the national title game.
■They lost to Arkansas by 4
■They lost in 4OT to Kansas State
■They lost to Missouri by 7 and Texas by 2

A&M had one of the most dissapoiting seasons this year, with what they were expected to do this year.

Now do they come in to the Bowl game showing what they were supposed to do all season, if they do it could get ugly for Northwestern.

exactly. Even if we had beat Army and Illinois (two games we prolly should have won). This would not be a very good matchup.
