Bill O'Brien - NE Patriots OC. Doesn't appear to be a pedophile, but time will tell.

PSU fans don't seem happy, but within a month they'll convince themselves that he's the next great coach.

This is a job you take knowing you'll be fired a few years from now.

yeah it is weird that all of these ex players are pissed that they went outside the university to hire this guy..i do not see him getting fired in a few years..i think this is a good hire and he will be successful.

I think its funny that ex-players do not understand that everybody on the staff the last 40 years were witness to a sexual predator and they all must be replaced.

I get the impression that Bill O'Brien's lack of connection to the university has turned a lot of people off before he's officially introduced as Penn State's new head football coach. At the same time, I wonder what Bill is getting himself into with the ongoing investigation and NCAA probe going on in (Not So) Happy Valley related to the Jerry Sandusky case. I think Penn State football as we know it right now is badly stained, and it's going to take years for that school to cleanse itself.

The last time a college hired a New England offensive coordinator as their head coach, the guy's name was Charlie Weis and the school was Notre Dame. That worked out well. He lasted five years. And Denver hired former NE OC Josh McDaniels as their head coach. He lasted less than 2 seasons. Penn State is in for the same kind of startling revelation that ND and Denver had -- the NE OC coordinator isn't squat in any other job without Tom Brady at QB. But the x million will spend quite nicely for Mr. Obrien as he eats his humble pie.

Personally, I think it's a safe pick and I'm comfortable with it. After all, Offensive Coordinators from the Patriots have a spectacular record as a head coach in college.
I think the locals had their hearts set on Munchak, but I think that if O'Brien fails, that's when you get Munchak. Munchak is too tied in with the previous regime (same with Al Golden, who if this whole thing didn't go down, I thought was going to be the guy to replace Paterno). The ex players (Hello LaVar!) and meatball fans (get off of Joe's lawn already for fuck's sake) are idiots if they didn't like that they went outside of the university. They HAD to.

I thought so too.

That's why I chose the Weis pic with him looking angry.

I was going to say that New England Coordinators make great head coaches, but decided to make it college specific. I'm in a sarcastic mood tonight, or always.

I can't believe that they were able to get someone that high up. Not that Obrien was high up...
