Post subject: | Big 10 Bowls |
Since the Bowl matchups are out and most of us follow the Big 10, how many wins do we see this year. Purdue vs Western Michigan- Didn't watch much Western Michigan Football, but looking at stats, they could blast Purdue Illinois vs UCLA- If Illinois Defense plays well, they can win this game. Northwestern vs Texas A&M- A&M could be the biggest dissapointment this season, will they show up for the bowl game. Iowa vs Oklahoma- This could be the toughest Bowl game to pick, don't know how either team will play, Iowa was hear last year and won so they may not want to be there and Oklahoma probably had diffrent thoughts about their bowl game and they wondered if Oklhaoma could get off the carpet after Ok State pounded them, but they never have. If OU cares, they should pound Iowa, but probably won't, so this could be a close one. Penn State vs Houston- There may be some question if Houston wants to be here since they had a BCS shot, something tells me they will and Houston does win this one. Nebraska vs South Carolina- I like the GameCocks here, have the defense to stop the run and Martinez doesn't throw well, so probably a 17-14/21-17 game. Michigan State vs Georgia- I like Michigan State to play well here, after last year's embarrasment to Alabama, come back strong and Georgia hasn't played well against Ranked Teams. Ohio State vs Florida- People may be on FLorida here with their speed, but I see Ohio State coming out playing well enough to win, and may want to show something for their new coach coming. Wisconsin vs Oregon- I like watching both of these teams play, I know Oregon under Kelly in bowl games, their offense hasn't done well in bowl games, but think it does this year and should be a high scoring game and Wisconin won't want to relive last years Rose Bowl game. Michigan vs Virginia Tech- I would say Michigan, but the Virginia Tech players are going to here they shouldn't be here and somtimes that gets teams fired up to go out and win. Of the 10, I will say the Big 10 goes 4-6 this year. |

If they really cared about fighting hunger, they would have found two better teams to compete in their stupid bowl game besides Illinois and UCLA. Those choices will single handedly lead to 10,000 children dying of starvation. |

Rivals names UCLA vs. Illinois "Most Depressing Bowl" http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Bowl-Roll-Call-The-Kraft-Fight-Hunger-Bowl-is-t?urn=ncaaf-wp11095 I could not agree more. |

Everyone expected them to do much better and they didn't. If anyone gets beat badly, i think it will be Nebraska. South Carolina has a really good defense and mixed with Nebraska's offensive ineptitude it could be recipe for disaster. |

WIth the Insight Bowl coming up between Iowa and Oklahoma, which will be an intresting game, people think Oklahoma don't want to be there and Iowa going back to a place they won, so they may not want to be there, just look at Nebraksa at the Holiday Bowl last 2 years. Now for the coaches, is this Ferentz last game at Iowa and go to the Chiefs, and would Stoops just change sidelines and go to Iowa. I don't know what there thinking at Oklahoma, but with all the good teams they have, 1 national title and that was in early 2000, does Stoops decide to leave. If Stoops did want to leave, I know it will be a tough job to fix, but does he think Penn State. Just throwing it out. |

Ferentz won't go to the Chiefs. He's already making way more money than KC was paying Haley. As for Stoops coming to Iowa, there have been tons of rumors here that he would absolutely come back if the timing was right. |

Ferentz isnt leaving. The bigger question is whether Mike Stoops is getting an interview for the vacant DC position at Iowa. I think Phil Parker is the choice, but they might look to interject new blood in. As for Bob Stoops coming to Iowa, I think Iowa had their shot years ago and missed out on the chance. I don't see him ever coming 'home' |

Penn State's QB got the shit kicked out of him by one of his receivers. Questionable now for the bowl game. He sucks anyways. |

Of course for Penn State, the backup isn't good either in Bolden. Houston will have a new head coach in this game and coming off a big loss, but if they come in prepared, Houston could blast Penn State. |

Just reading on CollegeFootballtalk.com that Bolden has a minor legal issue to take care of, but should still be eligible for the bowl game. Should have got Houston at -6.5, probably will be 9 or 10 now. |

With Marcus Coker being ruled out of the Insight Bowl for a rules violation (no word what happened but probably skipped a class or having trouble with grades), Iowa's leading running back will be De'Andre Johnson who had 79 yards on 18 carries this year. Take that info as you see fit. |

It looks like Purdue may lose as many as 4 players for the bowl game. They all are pretty high impact players too. OJ Ross Dwayne Beckford Likely(for taking the wheel locks off of their cars and getting charged with theft and receiving stolen property): Gerald Gooden Will Lucas How stupid. |

Nice of you two to bury the hatchet during this special time of the year. Old rivalries run deep... newer ones run deeper... or so they say. Who's they? cough cough Jim Delaney. |

I'm predicting a Purdue loss today. Missing 4 starters. Another two of them are playing even though they got arrested for taking the parking boot off of their car. The opponent will likely be more fired up for the game as usual in these types of games. Hopefully Danny Hope can earn his two year extension by proving me wrong. |

Not so fast. WMU not looking well prepared. Allowing two onside kick recoveries and a kickoff return for touchdown on special teams. If i were Purdue i would attempt another onside kick recovery to start the 2nd half. Doing that and scoring would effectively win the game since WMU can't seem to stop anything. |

A win is a win. It was nice to see Danny Hope out coach someone. It really should have been a blowout but Purdue was pretty good at giving back turnovers on the same play. I do think that this team is one solid QB away from being really dangerous. For as much as Terbush improved and was at least serviceable they need better than what he provided. Rob Henry probably would have done that. To be honest though, I hope Purdue avoids the Little Ceasers Bowl for a long time. This was like WMU's Super Bowl. They wanted to "Make History" by finally winning a bowl game. I think the Purdue players had to be slightly disappointed to be there but they have the loss to Rice to blame for that. It's also a great recipe for off the field issues and lack of focus. Losing 4 starters was troubling. I do like the athleticism of this team. He's brought in a bunch of really good athletes. I guess it's another wait and see situation. All the excuses are done now without question. This will be his fourth year. |
