Great great win by IU. Starting the season 9-0 with a win over #1 ranked Kentucky.

I am not going to say they are all the way back yet, but they are damn sure close. Now they gotta build off this in the Big 10 season and get a solid place in the tournament.

My thread was better. Yes, Indiana is back (if we're talking about sweet 16-ish type good), no they are not back to being national championship type good. Really happy to see them pull it out against Kentucky though.

Nah FF's influence only works in the NFL.

Like Angus said, it hasn't effected Rodgers and GB yet

Probably not national championship material but that game did remind me of the team that lost to Maryland in the finals. They were draining 3s and playing pretty good defense. That is a recipe that can get you far in the tournament.

Tom Crean was at the high school here Tuesday night. They have 6'10" Junior that he has already offered a scholarship to.

If Sullinger gets healthy, it will be fun when Ohio State and Indiana meet with Zeller and SUllinger going at it.

Nice way to start New Years Eve with a win over Ohio State.

Beating #1 Kentucky and #2 Ohio State in the same year is great! Hope they can keep this kinda of play going throughout Big 10 play.

Right now, I have them tied for #15 in the point spread power ratings. It's hard to move a growing team into the top ten until it shows it can beat a ranked team on the road. So far, they are 0-1 at that (losing by 15 at Mich State, which is not the kind of roadie top ten teams typically produce). Big wins at home are nice, but if they win every home game and lose every road game, they are not a top 20 team. In his last two years at IU, Mike Davis was 10-6 and 9-7 in the conference. So if this team finishes with that kind of record (which I think is likely) then yes, they are back to the level that was good enough to get Mike Davis fired.

Indiana went on the road and beat NC State. I am not sure if they were ranked at that time or not, but either way it is a pretty tough place to go and win a game.

The kid I mentioned from my home town just commited to them on Sunday. He was sitting right behind the bench on Saturday with his family all decked out in IU gear. Said being there and watching the game made his mind up and commited the next day.

I am assuming this is who you are talking about:

Quote:
Luke Fischer attended Saturday's Indiana-Ohio State game believing he might give a verbal commitment to play basketball for the Hoosiers.

Fischer, a 6-10 post player from Germantown, Wis., had first visited Indiana in the spring and felt IU was a perfect fit. He came back in late summer and participated in an open gym setting with some of Indiana's players.

After his first experience in Assembly Hall with the atmosphere and the play of the No. 13 Hoosiers in a 74-70 victory over Ohio State, Fischer was certain he had found his college basketball home. A few hours after IU's victory, Fischer gave Hoosiers coach Tom Crean his commitment.

He is the third player to commit to IU's Class of 2013 and will be eligible to sign a letter of intent in November.

"When I was in Bloomington last spring, I just had a feeling this was the right place and I knew when I was there for the Ohio State game that nothing had changed," Fischer said. "I'm just really excited to be a part of this program. I just think it's really cool to see where the program is today and the direction it is heading. I wanted to be a part of that.''

Fischer is listed at 6-9, 200 pounds by recruiting services. Saturday night, however, when he was measured and weighed at Assembly Hall, he came in at 6-10 and 215.

"I've just been eating every chance I get and trying to bulk up," he said. "I feel like my strengths are posting up down low as well as facing up and hitting a quick jump shot over my opponent.

"My biggest challenge will be to continue to bulk up and get ready for Big Ten play.''

He said he was 6-4 as a high school freshman and grew 4 inches the following summer. He grew 2 more inches last summer.

Fischer had nine scholarship offers, including two in the Big Ten: IU and Iowa. He said he was recruited by Wisconsin but had not been given an offer.

Living 90 minutes from Madison, he said he grew up a Badgers fan and has been to several games at the Kohl Center. But the way he felt about Indiana, it would have been tough for Wisconsin to get back into the picture.

"Even if they had offered me a scholarship now, I really wanted to attend IU," Fischer said.

He is averaging 18 points and eight rebounds on his high school team that is 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin's highest division. He is rated as the No. 140 prospect in the nation by rivals.com.

Other IU Class of 2013 commitments: Warren Central 6-6 forward Devin Davis and Cathedral 6-6 forward Collin Hartman.

IU has been really impressive this year. All the early playing time by other players seems to have paid off.

Luke Fischer is a little bit of a head scratcher to me. He may end up being pretty good but with the way IU has been recruiting he seems a little bit on the low end. I guess they can't all be top 50 players though.

IU fans better hope that Cody doesn't play himself into a lottery pick. His matchup with Leonard could do it.

I don't see Zeller leaving after one year. I think he is a smart enough kid to understand the big picture and that he would get ate alive in the NBA. He needs more time to develop his game, and even with that he may never be more than a spare part coming off the bench in the NBA. And from what I have heard Zeller really wants to play with this next class they have coming in.

Yes, that is him. He is a great kid, and may have to red-shirt but that wouldn't be a bad thing. They will get the weight on him, once he gets there. As the article stated he has really grown quick and still learning to play with his body. He can run the floor pretty well, and has a very good touch from 15-18 feet. Crean has been after him pretty hard, and I know Marquette had offered also. Being just a junior, he has time to grow and mature as a player.
