So I'm on the plane back from LA last week and a guy in a track suit kind of thing with a BIG NAME UNIVERSITY name on it is sitting across the aisle from me. On the way off the plane, we're all standing around trying to get off. He calls somebody.....

"Yeah Coach, it's JC....I spoke to him and he's almost on board. He just said he would like to have somebody...not a coach...that can help him out if he has any issues come up....like somebody he can go to if his mom is in a tight spot.....I don't think this would be like every week or anything....I think this would for sure put us over the top."

I never fly without wearing a suit or sport coat. My girlfriend finds this incredibly odd. I once heard her laughing about this habit with her girlfriends and referring to me as her "quirky boyfriend". I told her she is welcome to fly like a savage but I refuse to do so.

Can tell you about a former Big man in the Big 10 who was being recruited. The Mom did want him to go to a good school, she knew he was leaving early so made sure he cut a deal that allowed him to go back at anytime and earn a degree. While the mom was concerned about making sure he got an education, you still paid the going rate at that time for $5K for a one on one sit down, $10K for a campus visit and if he signs a $100K annuity!

Anyone remember Pat Kennedy at DePaul, he steps in and signs 5 future NBA players ??? Granted he could coach them but Simmons, Hunter, Richardson, McPharlan (?) and even had Eddie Curry ready to go. From my source, Q was all but set for Kansas, until the night before he decided.
