Ya know, I actually kinda like them. Kind of a good blend of classic and new. The stripe across the front gives it a unique look without been too over-the-top.

I guess they're ok.

What was so wrong with the "old" ones?

Did they breed the cleats with wrestling boots for this seasons shoe?

They switched from Adidas to UA, so some changes were coming. Truth is, the recruits, love the Oregon shit... and everyone is going that direction. So I was assuming that UA was going to do something much more drastic. But I kinda like that they stayed relatively classic.

I would be very happy if they abandoned the "N" logo on the helmet. 1983 called... they want their "N" back.

I've never like the "N" logo. They should put the cat on the helmets.

In reality, I think the uniform stuff is highly overrated. It's not like Alabama and Auburn are struggling to get recruits.

People like Oregon because they pay the players there, and have awesome facilities from Nike money, and have a unique connection to Nike that can work out later in life. Oregon could literally have solid green uniforms and they'd still want to go there.

I couldn't disagree more. As crazy as it sounds uniforms are part of the brand. Some brands like Alabama and Auburn are so entrenched in their regional market that they don't need to do much to get recruits. Oregon is different. They don't have the same history. I can't tell you how many kids I see in the Chicago burbs wearing Oregon stuff... and I highly doubt it was because Mom and Dad went there.

I kinda like 'em. It's certainly different than all the other unis in the B1G, yet not completely ridiculous. Almost looks like a Rugby jersey.

Do you honestly think that recruits are going to go to Northwestern because they added a stripe?

Oregon is what it is because Nike has decided to make them the unofficial university of Nike and because Oregon cheats(allegedly).

They are not nearly as bad as so many of the others I have seen, like Maryland--Horrible!

But I just tend to be a guy who likes classic simple uniforms.

Actually, Nike's headquarters are in Eugene, OR. That might explain how the University of Oregon chose Nike as their official team outfitter.

As for Northwestern's new unis...Not bad.

Apparently there is some significance to the striping. I read from one source:

The more significant innovation of Northwestern's 1928 jerseys, however, was the sleeve striping for the white jersey. While most other colleges continued to wear plain jerseys or the large chest stripes, the "northwestern stripes" sleeve style on the Wildcat jerseys set the trend for what would become the modern college uniform.

The striping design (three stripes: one wide stripe enclosed by two narrow stripes) had been around for a while. It was being used for basketball stockings as early as 1915 and by the early 1920s it was being used for football stockings. It is believed, however, that Northwestern was the first football team to wear the pattern as part of a jersey design, and to this day the striping pattern is known as "northwestern stripes." It remains one of the Wildcats' greatest football traditions.

Nike was founded by Oregon's track coach and one of the track athletes. That is why Nike supports Oregon so heavily.

It also could be the tens of millions of dollars that Nike and Phil Knight have given them.

I couldn't help, but laugh at that. If that is one of our greatest traditions (besides choking in Bowl games apparently), then we need some new traditions.

I was actually way under. It's estimated that Nike and Knight have given Oregon $300 million.

You really think they would choose to be an Adidas school?

Something about these uniforms signifies SPEED. Northwestern better get some damned fast players.

I think they look good. They look 'sleeker' and will likely sell quite a few to the thousands of fans that go to Dyche Stadium.

How is that stripe gonna look on a 350lb lineman? He is going to look like a globe.

I hate the use of balck when it isn't a school color.

I wish they would incorporate the grey more often. Purple and grey are a nice combination
