I kind of feel bad and may have slighted the Hoosiers. They probably deserve to have their own thread for this GLORIOUS championship run. |

It's hilarious when that amount of talent loses and the fan base goes crazy. If they win it all, then nothing really changes. To be honest, Notre Dame or Illinois winning a title would affect me more since those teams have similar histories to Purdue. |

Nothing like seeing a bunch of overconfidence from Hoosier fans. Will be nice watching them choke this season away. |

Here come the haters, so sad. Also, there is no such thing as choking, that theory has been proven. |

Someone put this in a sig so IU fans can enjoy this forever. |

I'm going to double down on my Wisconsin prediction. They'll finish 6th at best in the Big Ten. That is unless Sam Dekker is able to carry them. Iowa will be the biggest "surprise". That doesn't mean they compete for the title, but they will be a threat for 5th place. Minnesota has the biggest fall. Illinois is not as bad as everyone thinks, but they aren't that good either. Purdue will be decidedly average as this is a rebuilding year. My Big Ten predictions. 1) Ohio State 2) Indiana 3) Michigan (All three of those will be really close, then a dropoff) 4) MSU 5) Iowa 6) Purdue 7) Wisconsin ![]() 9) Northwestern (big dropoff here) 10) Minnesota 11) Penn State 12) Iowa 16-2 wins the Big Ten. Ohio State and Indiana get #1 seeds. Michigan gets a 2 seed. MSU gets a 4 seed. Iowa gets a 6 seed. Purdue and Wisconsin a 7 seed. Northwestern misses the tournament. |

Illinois should just adopt that as their yearly slogan: We are not that good, but not that bad either! |

RFDC wrote: Illinois should just adopt that as their yearly slogan: We are not that good, but not that bad either! Teams with a lot of senior leadership tend to surprise in the Big Ten. I think Groce coming in is the best thing that could have happened to Paul and Richardson. They play his style. Illinois isn't as good as the top 3 but I would expect them to be a minimum 18-20 win team. They might get beat up early in Hawaii, though. |

Pardon me, but I am going to provide my homerish thoughts on Purdue this year. I encourage others to do the same. I'm actually really excited for this year. There are a lot of similarities to the first year that Robbie Hummel and company showed up. DJ Byrd should provide quality minutes and finally, for the first time in his career, there is enough in the post to let him play the natural small forward position. Terone Johnson is finally healthy and supposedly back to form. They should have big years. Two other positions are locked in by freshman. Ronnie Johnson(brother of Terone) is going to be a star at point guard. Expect Lewis Jackson with a better ability to score. Donnie Hale, who originally was a recruit for two years ago, but then went to prep school because there were no scholarships left, and then redshirted because Hummel was back and taking his minutes, is the power forward. He's supposedly very skilled and may end up being one of our best players this year. At center, European Marcuis should keep it warm until freshman AJ Hammons finally provides a big body that has been lacking. I expect him to play well, in spurts, but like many freshman big men he's probably not in good enough shape to play more than 20 or 25 minutes a game. Add in the even better recruiting class next year and I have a Dr. Kenneth Noisewaterian sense of optimism, but I actually have a reason to be. |
