I think they had everything they needed to happen to get into the top 16. |

Oklahoma and Boise losing would have added to everything. |

Most current projections (including ESPN) have them in the Orange Bowl now. |

CBS sports has Louisville going to Orange and NIU going to Go Daddy |

I'm going to switch my projection to NIU in the BCS, but don't book your flights yet, Huskies. |

If I was a coach I'd be petty and vote NIU lower for Doeren leaving. At least wait until they announce the bowl before bolting. |

Vote them into the BCS knowing he will not be able to coach them and with the possibility he will never make a major game with NC State. |

On a day featuring relatively little drama regarding which teams will head to which BCS bowls, the Huskies' selection provided the biggest intrigue. They needed to finish No. 16 in the final BCS standings; they finished No. 15. |

I guess that is nice for NIU and their fan base...but are you really excited about going to the Orange Bowl and getting embarrassed in front of a national audience? |

Northwestern and their fans seem to enjoy it for the last ten years. Other option is the go daddy bowl which I think is played on valentine day. |

I wonder how many times the same thing was said about Utah vs. Alabama, Boise vs. Oklahoma, etc. Mid-majors are 5-2 in BCS games. One of the losses is because they pitted TCU and Boise against each other. Besides, Florida St won 21-15 against a 6-6 GT team. They are certainly beatable. |

RFDC wrote: You really think you are on the same level as Boise, Utah, and TCU? Really? Boise-yes. Utah maybe. Tcu-no. You have to understand this is not a powerhouse conference. They are locked into three or four lower tier bowls and never have a chance to break out. Maybe they get smashed--maybe not. I like to see things shake up once in a while. How do you know if you match up if you never play the big boys? |

RFDC wrote: You really think you are on the same level as Boise, Utah, and TCU? Really? Don't get so butthurt buddy, I understand it hurts your pride to see NIU go to a BCS game while your program continues to flounder. And no, i don't think we are. But our program is continually improving itself. After losing Harnish, Spann, and our entire O-Line i never expected to be in the position we are today. But that's a testament to the program we are building here. |

Big 12 coaches tried to keep us out of the game, but in the end it looks like it didn't work. Holgersen ranked NIU 24th Paul Rhodes- 20th Stoops- 24th |

I am not butthurt at all, but I appreciate your concern. In fact I have absolutely LOVED this college football season. Indiana and Notre Dame have always been my 2 favorite schools in college sports. So yeah, I am good. At least you understand you are not at the same level of those other schools... |

Many other people will now get to witness what a truly special QB Jordan Lynch has been this season. He deserves the hype and the praise. 2,962 passing yards, 24 TDs, and 5 INTs 1,771 rushing yards (#1 in the country) and 19 TDs |

ESPN sounded like they wanted NIU to give them a hug or something. Herbstreit needs to sit on national TV and ask one more time "WHO MADE THESE RULES?? WHO MADE THESE BCS SELECTION RULES???" Idiot. ![]() And then the rest of the panel kept repeating "At least this will all be solved with the 4-team playoff in a couple years". Um......It would be the same deal. NIU would still get one of the "Big" bowl games for being "best of the rest". Love the sarcasm and bitterness, Dr. Ken. ESPN said FSU opened at (-7), which has to be a mistake. Has to be at least 10+. Maybe more. |
