I need someone more intelligent than me to explain why Teo is a finalist for the Heisman. It has got to be because a #1 team should generally just have a representative right? Is that it? Because I always thought the Heisman finalists were some of the most outstanding players in the nation. Not "leaders". Not "good players". Not "good players who mean alot emotionally". Teo is tied for 59th in the nation in total tackles. Not in the top 50 for assisted tackles, solo tackles, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries. One thing he has is tied for 2nd in the nation with 7 picks. Is that the reason he is a finalist? Can someone please explain this to me? You could literally go through the NCAA defensive stats and find 50 other players who had better defensive seasons all around. 7 picks? Because he is the "leader" of the defense? |

Yeah... it would be the first time that a defensive player (who doesn't also do special teams) wins the Heisman. Still seems like a longshot, but I think the spirit of your comment is correct... the only reason he is getting a look is for the qualitative aspects. |

He's the best player on one of the best defenses in the country. If the Irish weren't in a BCS bowl, I agree he's not a finalist. He's made some big plays in big moments in big games though when coupled with their undefeated record explains why he's there. Manziel is winning running away though. |

He has a cool name. ESPN loves to kiss ass of ND. If Johnny Football doesn't win, its a complete farce. |

He has better numbers than Woodson when Woodson won the Heisman. If he doesnt win it this year it should be called best offensive player and be done with it. I'm fine if he doesnt but drop the act and say its the best QB/RB award and quit fucking around. |

So if they give it to him, they might as well rename it the leadership award. |

Woodson won it for his special teams work too. Wasn't he one of the best return men in the country too? |

Can I say no body did much to win the Heisman this year, the most consistent player may have been Braxton Miller of Ohio State. I can't go with Manzell much and he will probably win, lost 2 games at home, did go to ALabama and win. Klein had beaten Baylor, then that would have been your winner, but didn't, still had a heck of a season. Teo, just hard for defensive players to win it, I will say it would be good for the Heisman if he did, to show Defensive players can win this award. |

Manziel's numbers are off the charts, he deserves to win. They are better than Cam's when he won. |

They either give it to a freshmen or a defensive player. Neither is what they want to do. It will be close. |

They don't have the flash of offensive stats or are subjective. Defensive players' impact need to be judged with an observant eye. And when people like Boers, Bernstein and Francesa possess Heisman votes defensive players are screwed. |

Two thoughts: 1. Is he really a freshman if he was redshirted? It's not like he's 18 or 19 years old. 2. If someone believed in the Heisman jinx, do you think they could request to disqualified from receiving the award? What would happen if the Heisman winner just decided he wasn't going to show up to receive the award? |

Why is Teo wearing a Hawaiian wreath around his neck at a formal event? I realize it's near Christmas, but isn't this a little like wearing a cowboy hat to the event? |
