Miss St loses to Northwestern

LSU loses to Clemson

South Carolina barely squeaks by Michigan

Georgia struggles to get past Nebraska

And the topper of the all:
Florida looks horrible in loss vs. Louisville.

The SEC ain't what she used to be.

Maybe, I thought Florida would crush Louisville ...thought lsu would win close game, thought Georgia would embarrass Nebraska.

People will just remember Alabama beating Notre Dame by 14+ points though.

Probably more.

Mac won't be into work for the rest of the week. He'll be hiding in his basement from yet another gang of collection goons.

Do you really think that after watching some of the other SEC teams play in bowl games?

Bama may very well win, but the SEC does not seem nearly as dominate as they have in past years.

So then, what conference is better?

I seem to remember this happening before. The SEC doesn't look good in some of the other bowl games, but once again looks dominant in the title game.

A lot of the results of bowl games come down to motivation. Both Notre Dame and Alabama will be motivated. Other SEC teams may not have been.

Why should they be? All other bowl games mean just as much as the team's upcoming spring game.

Why does this bad sports thought show up every year at this time? It's clearly false.

What did Florida St. gain by beating NIU in the Orange Bowl?

A win on a national stage. They avoided the embarrassment of losing to a non-BCS school. Seniors had their careers end on a high note in a bowl game that most teams wish they were in. The win can be used for recruiting. It will help their preseason ranking next year.

Dan Wetzel ‏@DanWetzel

So when the SEC dominates, it's bc the SEC is dominant. But when the SEC gets dominated, it's bc it wasn't motivated to play. Is that it?

I am not saying a conference is better. I am saying they are not as dominate this year as some people want you to believe. The Big 10 blew chunks this year. Yet 3 of their teams played toe to toe with SEC teams. Florida lost to Louisville. Most people gave Louisville no chance in that game. Yet they made Florida look silly. LSU lost to Clemson. Yeah that shouldn't happen either. Just not a very dominate performance by a conference that is so dominate.

When did they get dominated? Yes, Florida and Mississippi State lost and Florida's was bad, but to say the conference as a whole was dominated is a stretch.

Louisville dominated them for 3/4th of that game. It was bad. Weren't you watching?

Forgot about LSU and I don't disagree with you necessarily. I just find it funny that they lose a few games and people are coming from everywhere at them. Also, I don't believe that Alabama is as good as they have been, they can definitely still win, but it wouldn't shock me if they got beat.

I remember one ESPN commentator making a similar comment (I think it was whomever was doing the Michigan/SC game) talking about how if you have SEC fatigue, this year is going to be good for you with teams struggling and losing.

Hawg, I think you are way more rational as a fan than the majority of SEC fans.

Yeah maybe so, but you can't fix stupid and that is with every conference and their fans.

I would say on these SEC teams, not a lot of them have quarterbacks, maybe you could say this year about college football. The 2 best could be Geno SMith from West Virginia and Barkley from USC, those teams started out good, then fizzled.

LSU just wants to try and beat up, almost like the NFL version of the Steelers, just run the ball, score a little and win with defense. The SOuth Carolina guys don't knock me out.

Georgia, Vanderbilt, and if u beleive in Mccaron, Alabama may be the only SEC teams with quarterbacks.

On Monday, Alabama will try to win with defense, run the ball with Lacy and Yelldon, and Mccarron will make some passes to win.

Say what u want about the SEC, still went 2-1 against the Big 10 and the Big 10 went 2-5 through the bowl season. The best team in the Big 10 didn't play in a bowl this year and next year will be a favorite for the national title next year (Ohio State).

Texas A&M is pretty darn good too. Don't forget them in your SEC analysis.

I think a def. back from Miss. St. said Venric Mark (NU HB) would just be another guy in the SEC, but in the Big 10 he stands out because of his speed.

I guess speed is just one component in making a football player.
