Maybe Ben Braun, former Cal coach, New Trier guy.

collins would be very interesting as you know his Dad would help negotiate the deal for him and make sure the "resources $$$" are available.

Fact is, it is a loser job unless concessions are made. New facility, new practice digs, easier admittance.

The fact any school does not ease admittance for athletes is a total joke. I am not saying look the other way, but any kid that plays sports in college dedicates a ton of time and energy to the sport, makes it tough to perform well in school as well.

Schools that are on trimesters usually have finals during the tourney. Imagine having to study for your finals and also to prepare to play Duke all within the same 24 hour period.

Well, give the NU kids credit. I've never heard them complain about the conflict and they are on trimesters.

There are just too many private, academically strong schools that are good at basketball for this argument to fly. Northwestern isn't so superior to places like Vanderbilt, Stanford and several of the catholic schools from the Big East that they can talk about the difficulty of getting athletes enrolled with a straight face.

They do "bend" relative to normal admissions. You can get in as an athlete with a 3.3 and 25 act. Just not as much as Illinois or any other big ten school does.

I thought I read over the weekend that Ben Howland was under contract until 2016-17, despite UCLA firing him over the weekend a couple days after a miserable performance in the NCAA Tournament vs. Minnesota in Austin, TX.

A gut feeling? Ben heads to ESPN and becomes one of their many analysts.
