I seem to ask this every year and don't get much response, but I guess I'll try again. Anyone interested in a CSFMB outing to a Cat's game? One year we had a nice group (Doug from EP, Aggravated Sox Fan Bob, Spanky, W_Z, and someone else). I'd be happy to host a tailgate (free beer, pulled pork sandwiches, etc.). Options include:

Sept. 7 vs. Syracuse - I think I'm already hosting one for the folks from work. But it starts at 5:00 PM, which should be fun.
Sept 14 vs. Western Michigan - Might be fun because it is a night game (8:00 PM start)
Sept 21 vs. Maine - Probably a 11:00 AM start, but I could get tickets for VERY cheap (Prolly $5 each)
Oct. 5 vs. Ohio State - 7:00 PM Essentially soldout before single game tickets have even gone on sale.
Oct. 11 vs. Minnesota - Probably a 11:00 AM start... would be fairly easy to get tickets
Nov. 16 vs. Michigan - Essentially already sold out. Depending on how both teams do, this could be on primetime TV (not expecting that)
Nov. 23 vs. Michigan State - Probably a 11:00 AM start... would be fairly easy to get tickets

Best bet is probably the non conference games... ideally Syracuse or Western Michigan because they are night games.

I could probably do the 21st of September or October 11th.

Hard to plan that far ahead but I have some interest. I could take the train down from
Waukegan or Kenosha very easily.

September 7th would work best with me just because of my schedule.

If there is interest, I can probably score a big block for the Maine or Western Michigan games for nothing.

Syracuse will be more fun because it is a 5:00 PM start. If there are only a couple people that have interest, I'd love for you to come by during my work-related tailgate. Uncle Bub's pulled pork and plenty of beer should make that enticing.

I'd love to give Doug's fiance an uncomfortably long hug. :D Congrats again, Doug E. Fresh.

That was in response to my previous post, it made absolutely no sense.

Jesus you wouldn't believe the drinking that went on at these things back in the day. They cracked down while I was there and never went to another game.

Well, unless you are a.) underage b.) picky about your beer or c.) a drunk idiot, then you won't have to worry about that at our tailgate. All you want plus a wonderful Uncle Bub's pulled pork.

We are out of town the 7th and the 14th. I'm pretty much in for the 21st at this point. Not sure how many tix tho...could be anywhere from 2-5.

I'm down for this. Preferably a Sept./Oct. date.

With all of the wedding stuff we have coming up this fall (some our own, some for others) I cannot commit to something like this right now. However if I am free I think I would be probable for at least the tailgate.

I would like to see NU have a regular matchup against NIU.

I would too. I'm not sure why it hasn't been done other than the fact that a major conference team has almost no incentive to play good non-conference teams... especially one that is as good as NIU.

Doug E. Fresh is considering going to the Maine game. Would you want to meet up for a small tailgate for that game, GD? You bringing the kids?

Yes. I'll have to see about the meet up. I am pretty sure the 14th will work. It doesn't have to be any kind of elaborate tailgate.

Nah... it would take an hour to get there for me... and I'd only go if my 4 kids wanted to. It's the end of their first week of school, so I'm thinking they'd prolly just want to chill.

Looks like we are donning the new white helmets for the Cal opener... Haven't worn these since 1980

I don't like the changes to their uniforms over the past few years.

The purple helmet with the white N is cool

I will definitely be lurking about at the Cuse game. Probably Western Michigan, too. Cat tix the greatest depending on location. Sold Ohio State and Michigan and paid for the season.

South Bend next weekend for that traditional struggle with the Temple Bill Cosbys.
South Bend for the Michigan State game.

Have to work in trips to Michigan and Indiana, too.

I'll be out of town for the Cuse game.

We passed on fall baseball this year with Little Crest so we could be open for any other game MUD.

I've never liked that "N" logo. It looks like they should be playing rollerball.

Hell of a game tonight. Cal isn't necessarily a huge test, but on the road for your first game, it's not the easiest. When Cal threw that bomb to tie it up right around half time, I was a little concerned. You have to credit the defense for this win... yeah it was 44 to 30, but I thought Cal did a fantastic job of adjusting at half to the NU offense. It was the NU defense that won it, and obvs credit to Collin Ellis... as usual for a LB, 50% right place, 50% ability. They should be 4-0 going into the OSU matchup -- will be watching for sure.
