Marquette got left out of this, which is really hard for me to believe.

So did they turn down the CBI or did they not get invited to that either?

Ask Herb.

I understand that unlike the NBA, the regular college basketball season matters and Illinois had that brutal streak in the middle of the season. But right now, today, March 16, 2014, are there more than four- or maybe five- Big Ten teams better than the Illini?

Yes.

Michigan, Wisconsin, MSU, Ohio St, Nebraska, Iowa.

And it is not that hard to argue that Indiana, Minnesota, and Northwestern are better.

Give it up JORR. Programs that are 2nd tier teams like you argued Illinois was are never happy with an NIT bid.

Exactly what they should have done.

Not Iowa. Probably not Ohio State. Illinois has a good shot at winning the NIT. Those teams have a good shot at getting knocked out in the first round.

When Illinois wins the Big Ten next season you can cry like a baby.

Why is that? I think they could use the extra practice.

Good luck waiting for that.

Maybe we can get a Mizzou and Illinois championship for the NIT!

Thing I learned on the CSFMB today:

JORR's "wins mean everything" mentality doesn't carry over to college hoops.

I don't believe they were invited from I have been told.

Huh...you'd think they would have invited them over some of the other teams involved.

and thus the problem of ILL INI hoops. They lost a pipeline to Chicago, which is really unfortunate that chicago is now producing top talent.

Everyone will be better next year. The only team that might drop in talent level is Mich St. Losing some seniors and dont have a top 50 player coming in. Other than that ,everyone bringing in better players. I know the Illini are bringing in Leron, not Lebron and he looks like a solid player, but they are fooling themselves to think they are top half of the Big 10.

I don't think that's really true. In spite of not getting one and done Rose and Parker, they've always had a strong connection with Simeon. There will always be guys who want to shine at their state school. Groce did fuck up big time with Brunson who was a lock for Champaign until he ignored him to chase that nitwit who crawled back to Louisville.

Wins mean a lot. I'm not saying Illinois deserves to be in the tournament in spite of the fact that they're a better basketball team right now than a bunch of teams that will be.

I don't get "ILL INI." Is it because the program is ill?

Also, get rid of this CBI horseshit. Teams don't even want to be in it. We don't need a college basketball equivalent to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl, do we?

Then why do I see a 13-19 team in the field?
