Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin stepped down from his job at Tennessee to take the job at California. If you remember earlier this year, the hillbillies there had a petition floating around to fire Martin and bring back Bruce Pearl. Well, Pearl is not an option anymore and signing day is coming....jobs have come and went and who knows who is available. For Martin, this is an excellent move. He leaves a place that didn't want him - a team that lost their two best players to the draft and is in the tough SEC for a program to one that seems to be in a good place, winning 20 games 5 of the 6 years under Mike Montgomery (and the one not there was 18) http://msn.foxsports.com/tennessee/stor ... 3Aansfox11 |

Which was a smart move on his part, for some reason Tennessee had no problems letting him walk. I hope he does well at California. |

very good move for Martin. He has always struck me as a real good dude and I am happy to see him get out of UT. They are idiots. Cal will be a good fit for him. Have to wonder if/when Painter is done at Purdue if they don't bring in Martin. |

It's almost impossible in this day and age to have a replacement in waiting. Coaches can stay as long as they want as long as they are winning. I'm sure Martin might get a look if Painter leaves, but that could be next year or 10 years from now or 20.... |

Mid February it looked like he would be fired at the end of the season. |
