Saturday. Set your reminders to keep an eye on Lunt. Per Mark Tupper - Quote: That’s how it feels at the University of Illinois now that offensive coordinator Bill Cubit will be spending more time in his quarterback laboratory with Wes Lunt. Cubit says Lunt is “a natural” as a passer. Lunt says Cubit is “an amazing coach. Whenever he’s on your side you feel more comfortable.” Cubit said he has had “a bunch” of 3,000-yard quarterbacks of different shapes, sizes and skill sets. His system, he said, can be adapted from one quarterback to the next, and he has a different play-calling approach for Lunt than he does for backup QBs Reilly O’Toole and Aaron Bailey. “Wes is the best I’ve ever had as far as arm strength. But I’ve had some guys who haven’t had as much arm strength and have become really successful. You just tailor it around those type guys. You go with what they can do and you tailor the offense.” That's right. He's the best Bill Cubit has ever had. Playoffs. Now, your first question might be "who has Bill Cubit ever had?" I suggest you don't pursue an answer to that question unless the name Alex Carder makes you hot. So, in summary, an undefeated Illini season, while expected, will likely still be slightly disappointing. |

While I'm sure the offense will be okay, the defense will be the worst in the country. Illinois will be lucky to win 2 games. Beckman will be fired. Hopefully, Wes Lunt won't suck the last half of the season like the Scheelhaase. |

The defensive line is supposed to be improved which is good news. The bad news is I don't think they had any other direction. |

I think the Illini will give up an average of 650 yards of offense every week. The D-coordinator makes Mel Tucker look like a genius. The worst part about the Illini coaching staff is that they brought most of these guys in (including Beckman) because of their recruiting prowess. None of them can coach worth shit. And it turns out they can't recruit worth a damn, either. Really an embarrassment to the University. At least Purdue is still in the conference. |

WTF -- what a murderous conference road slate: At Nebraska, at OSU, at Wisky. The conference might as well schedule them to play at Michigan State while they're at it. They also get stuck traveling out to play one of the tougher PAC teams. |

Overheard on Big 10 Practice fields: *Remember to bring a helmet when slamming Lunt * I'm not sure Lunt is supposed to be orange. * Lunt stinks * He will do a sack dance over Lunt. * Nice Lunt! * Lunt can create some tight balls * Oh,Oh folks,Lunt's bleeding |

Lunt came on in the 2nd half. The stats looked better than reality. He was staring down his receivers like they owed him money. |

Ok, he hasn't played in two years. I'm willing to allow that as an excuse. He looked skittish in the first half but like you said he got better. WKU hung 59 points and 700 yards of offense on Bowling Green last week. If Illinois wins it will be in a shootout. Saw that Jeff Brohm is the WKU coach. This game has the potential to be embarrassing for the Illini if they can't control the tempo. Youngstown had the ball for like 40 minutes last week. And they aren't even supposed to be good. Fuck. |

Mike Dudek is pretty damn fun to watch. He's going to put a stamp on the next 4 years. Lunt should have 7 interceptions this year. Illini can't run the ball which will kill them against real teams. The D is much improved over unbelievably horrible. |

Washington gave up tons of points yesterday. Illini-Huskies should be a really fun game to see. |

Lunt with 465 yards passing is impressive no matter the competition. Illini's defense will not improve with time. I don't know if NU & Illini's Defense combined would field a decent squad at this point. |

Huskies going in dry this weekend in Seattle. This going to be a 59-38 type game. Eastern Wash hung 52 on Husky last weekend so I think Illinois will score. O/U on how many times Illinois sends their kick offs out of bounds? Offense sputtered again at the start. Not a fan of the 3 incomplete passes and then punt possessions that use up 12 seconds of clock. D was good in second half. WKU had no 1st downs in the 3rd quarter. |

Considering how bad the Big Ten looks this year, Illinois may have an outside chance at a bowl game. |
