This is one of my favorite times of he sports year, and there are some really good match ups this year (in addition to the playoff games). The NYE/New year's day games are crazy good, IMO:

Rose: Oregon vs Florida State
Sugar: Alabama vs Ohio State
Cotton: Baylor vs Michigan State
Fiesta: Boise State vs Arizona
Orange: Georgia Tech vs Mississippi State
Peach: TCU vs Ole Miss
Outback: Wisconsin vs Auburn
Citrus: Minnesota vs Mizzou

There are some duds as well, but seems to be a lot more "good" match ups this year than usual.

Even the playoff games are kind of duds with spreads at greater than 7 points

I will be looking to bet against Oklahomo.

and Missouri

That team has really tanked defensively at the end of each of the last two years. Minnesota has to be smiling from ear to ear after watching Alabama run at will on them.

If Bama isn't playing for the National Title, fade them too. They don't get up for lesser bowls.

36 hours until the games start!
5 games on Saturday (plus 2 NFL games!). Can't wait.
The Saturday games are pretty lame, but I am interested to see if PJ can row the boat to WMU's first ever bowl victory.
He signed a 6-yr extension at WMU today, BTW.

I fully expect both of the Utah schools to do some damage on Saturday as well.

PJ got PAID. 800k for the MAC?? Solich makes 545k and that was the top salary. If he has another good season next year he is really going to get paid and be at the top of some big conference team's lists.

I get what WMU was trying to do, but even the $800k will not keep him there if a bigger school comes calling.
Doeren got somewhere near $2M from NC State a couple years ago. Lots of schools could offer $2M right now if they wanted to.
Still.......$800k buys a LOT of cheap drinks at the K-Zoo clubs for coeds.

Allegedly.
I've never been to a club in K-Zoo.

I hope you saw PJ rowing the boat after that big 3rd down stop in the 3rd quarter. The announcers sure did.

I saw it! I also the AFA defenders rowing the boat multiple times after a turnover and a defensive stop also!

How many times did ESPN show his pregame speech?
"Gentleman, it's time for us to draw a line in the sand! Between the past!! And the present!!! Now!! Let's go win our first bowl game!!!"

What?

Next to March Madness, this my favorite time of the sports year. I love college football & we have games every day for the rest of the year. I also follow & enjoy the FCS, D3 & D4 playoffs. Love it.

I can't take him seriously......but those kids apparently do. I hate Urban Meyer and he reminds me ALOT of Urban Meyer these days.

PJ is a good guy. Probably the next NIU head coach.

PJ is a good guy. Probably the next NIU head coach.

There is no way in hell he goes back to NIU. He is getting paid 3x what their head coach is. He is on the fast track to a Major 5 gig. The only way he goes there is if they get into the Big12 but he is still one of the hottest coaching prospects out there. He is beyond NIU. ........and he was a good kid when I went to school with him....i think he is still a good guy....a little weird but thats cool.

I'll take that bet. Won't happen.

He's more like Pete Carroll than Urban Meyer, IMO.

PJ burnt his coaching ties with NIU when he took the OC job for a day and then bolted. I doubt we will ever see him coach at NIU again. We ended up with Matt Canada anyway and he's a good coordinator and actually had experience.

I forgot about PJ's one day NIU coaching stint. Did he leave to coach the Niners WR's?

No.

Do you actually know who PJ Fleck is??

You have to be a huge douche to get kids at one of the military academies to openly mock you.

Evidently both teams couldn't afford to bring their defenses to Miami
