Tourney starts tomorrow, still time to fill out a bracket.

Cmon, who's with me? The hockey is great, I actually find it more entertaining than the NHL these days. The difference is the players aren't as big and fast or as good so the games end up being more wide open and fast paced. Lots of skill on display. Chance to watch future NHL superstar Jack Eichel, freshman at Boston U. He's gonna be the #2 pick in this year's draft.

My frozen 4 is Minnesota State, Denver, Boston University and North Dakota with Minn State squeaking by BU in the final.

Let's go, if the college baseball thread can get 2 posters surely this thread can get 3 right? Right?

Ok, now feel free to insert crickets and tumbleweed gifs to the hearts content.

My parents graduated from Minnesota State ( used to be Mankato State ). I might watch some of this if I am clicking through.

Actually follow college hockey as closely as a can.

Miami got hosed as a #1 seed playing Providence IN Providence and then BC which is just right next door.

Selection committee clearly wanting to get both BC and BU in the finals.

Although Miami might be screwed anyways with an injured Riley Barber and possibly suspended Coleman.

Something crazy, look at BU's stats with Eichel on an off the ice. I can't remember a bigger difference with one player on and off ice in NCAA history.

I watched them twice over the weekend. They're really fast and really good, #1 in the country. But, very little experience on the big stage. I'm picking them to win it all over BU, basically it was a toss up but my wife went with BU so gotta go Minn st to keep it interesting.

Watch out for the freshman McClure on Mankato, he tore it up over the weekend.

That's why I went with Denver. Too tough a road for Miami to negotiate without Barber and possibly Coleman.

I don't think the selection committee cares about BC, getting BU to the frozen four in Boston will be good enough. That said, BC is in the easiest bracket so who knows.

Eichel is amazing, watched him this weekend and he looks like a man amongst boys...and he's a freshman. First freshman to lead the NCAA in scoring since some guy named Paul Kariya. I think he turned out ok.

Too bad this is the year of McDavid or else Eichel would be a shoe in for #1 pick.

I'm a Miami grad, so I've always followed the CCHA and now NCHC really closely.

I think Miami can take out Providence with or without Barber/Coleman, but that's where their road is going to end. If you get a chance, watch Anthony Louis play over the weekend. Grew up idolizing Patrick Kane (which is just a weird thing to say that Kane has been in the league that long). He scored a silly goal against Denver in the NCHC playoffs. Him and Czarnik are the two guys who need to have career weekends to have a shot

I saw Louis play in the World Juniors and a couple times for Miami this year. Chicago kid if I'm not mistaken. He hasn't done much the times I've seen him play, but he was barely used in the world juniors.

How's Vermont? Sounds like Paliotta is going to refuse to sign with us. Prick.

Sounds like Paliotta is going straight to the Hawks on a two-year deal. No slide risk this late in the game, so essentially just a one-year deal. Early restricted free agency and a few days of NHL pay scale is the price you pay, I suppose.

Are fans of NCAA hockey more racist than pro fans? I would imagine the scale is similar to that of basketball fandom.

Denver blowing out Boston College. Terrible lighting in this arena. Looks like a game back in the '50's.

2 number 1 seeds were knocked out today, Minny State and Miami. Miami was down 6-2 and they pull the goalie with 5 minutes and change left in the game and they score and they pull him 2 more times and score both times to get it to 6-5 but gave up an empty netter late.

Post subject:  Re: The Frozen Four

Miami with maybe the worst game I've ever seen them play. I expected them to be down scoring punch without Coleman or Barber, but to be just so thoroughly outworked for 2 1/2 periods is inexcusable. As cliche as it sounds, Providence looked like they wanted it a hell of a lot more.

That rally was insane though pulling the goalie with 12 minutes left. I had already started the grieving process when they made it 6-5 and just broke my heart all over again.

Post subject:  Re: The Frozen Four

Great weekend of hockey! That Miami near comeback was amazing. When the player nearly killed himself stopping the empty netter goal I was hoping Miami would reward him by scoring the tying goal, but not to be.

Eichel didn't do much (by his standards) in the first two rounds,.

Too bad they don't re-seed for the Frozen Four....BU vs North Dakota feels more like a Final than a semi.
