About to get bought out at LSU for 15-20 million. He's going to have his choice of where he goes, SEC wise I bet Mizzou and Georgia are going to go after him hard. |

Gotta love college football. You got enough boosters willing to just hand over $20 to get rid of the coach. Get me another bowl of gumbo! |

ILL INI You don't need an AD to hire Les Miles. Hell, make him the AD, too. I don't give a shit. This isn't brain surgery. You hire him. You pay him $5M/yr and you sit back an be happy about it. |

Iowa State just fired their coach. 6 wins a year and they'll name buildings after him. |

success or lack of success comes down to winning 1-2 particular games a year for these top programs |

Miles never could develop a quarterback at LSU. They brought in that clownass Cam Cameron, who for some unknown reason has a reputation as a guru/wunderkind/offensive whiz/qb whisperer, to fix the problem but he's been a failure. I'd be careful if I were LSU brass. You bring in the wrong mope and you're looking at a Tennessee type situation. But there's lots of talent in state. Heard rumors of Jimbo coming back to Baton Rouge. |

I have also heard that Memphis has made Fuentes an offer to keep him of around 3.5 million per year, plus all kinds of new buildings. |

Mullen was on ESPN in late September talking about how they have to do with 1/4-1/3 the budget of LSU or Alabama. As for Memphis, you just wonder. They haven't had the ability to run a long term clean program in any sport going back to their bball run in the 80's. |

I had center court seats for a lot of those games. |

W_Z wrote: never underestimate the seedy underworld of college athletics. i'm sure he'd fit right in. frankly, i always wanted to like miles. Agree on both. If he goes though, I suspect that LSU will fall to Tennessee levels of meh. Especially with the Razorbacks quieting the critics & Hugh Freeze still beating Alabama and avoiding the NCAA. |

I just don't know what you sell on top 50 recruits to get them to Lincoln, nor getting the time to build a program will even match up long term with Wisconsin. |

1). LSU is pretty dumb for doing this. If they get rid of Miles, not many alpha-dog coaches looking to jump into Baton Rouge, IMO. Sure, money talks, but it's still the toughest division in NCAAF and LSU is now saying that 10 wins per year, multiple SEC championships and a national championship is not good enough. Think about that..... They will get a big name, but at what success? Go ahead, spend a billion on Jimbo. That's not a step up. 2). I just CANNOT see Miles getting the UGA job over Richt. UGA is probably a top-5 job in the whole country, simply because of the recruiting base. UGA doesn't need a recruiter, they need a better X/O guy. UGA recruits itself, essentially. IF* UGA gets rid of Richt, there is only one guy they probably have their sights set on. That fellas name is DABO. 3) I can definitely see Miles walking into So Carolina, Miami (ESPECIALLY Miami), and a few other jobs. He walks in, sets the terms, and takes over. Simple. This isn't a guy like Chizk or Kiffin that steps back to a coordinator position. 4). Stop it. STOP with the Illinois stuff. 5). Again, spending $15M to get rid of Les and then spending........3x that to get his replacement?? Moronic. That's a LOT of corn dogs. |
