Just throwing this out there.

Would members here be interested in a fantasy football league with the members here for a small cash prize?

Here is how it would work.

12 team league, if you wanted a team you would have to pay 5 dollars to a escrow PayPal account that would be held for the winner of the league. After fee's from PayPal, that 5 bucks would turn to 3.50 or 4 bucks give or take so the winner of the league would get around 40-50 dollars and the right to be known far and wide as the CSFMB fantasy football league champion for 2011.

5 bucks should not hurt anyone.

Plus playing fantasy football is one hell of a good time.

I'm in depending on the format. If its one of those leagues where you use defensive players or PPR then I'm not interested. If it uses fractional scoring I'm not interested. Other than that, I'm all for it. My main keeper league just folded after 10 seasons so I'm only in one league now and need another.

I'm the same way. If it's a normal league, I'm in. I've gotten in a couple leagues that value return yardage and whole bunch of other crap. Not to suggest that Mr. Pickles would have a league like that.

It would be "normal", thats the system most accepted by everyone.

Maybe offer an extra flex spot just to spice things up a little, but nothing more drastic than that.

And I myself don't like the defensive players system, thats way too nerdish.

Look for it to be a standard Yahoo type league, with maybe a added RB/WR flex spot. Iam totally open to everyone who wants to play to have a say in the league and what kind of league it will be.

I will use Fleaflicker for the league, Fleaflicker is extremely customizable.

I was going to get in this league until I saw that your using Fleaflicker. Fleaflicker is the biggest POS Fantasy Football league program there is. It sucks so bad that AOL bought it a few years ago from the guy who developed it, & just sold it back to the guy. It is slow, the player ranking are all over the place, & it looks like a 15 year old computer program.
Other than that, its great!

yeah, why not just use Yahoo? I've always found it to be the best and easiest to use. ESPN and CBS are horrible by comparison.

I agree on using yahoo. If you use CBS or ESPN I will probably only buy 4 teams.

Yahoo it is.

Post subject:  Re: CSFMB fantasy football league with cash prize?

Ok, I'm tinkering with Yahoo and it is pretty customizable, one of the bigger issues we have to work out is, what if we don't get 12? We can still have a league with how many we do actually get so its really no biggie, the cash pot would just be a little less.

Also, I will assume we will be doing a standard scoring league. That means, just a plain vanilla set up, no bumping certain positions just using what comes standard. If there is a scoring discrepancy for any position, we can fix it before we start, I'll post the whole scoring system here for everyone to look at before the games begin.

The only thing I really want is an extra weekly flex play, that way people can't put teams on auto pilot and they have to use more of their roster. One player can make a difference and it keeps everyone interested. I would listen to more than one flex play but that might be pushing it. But ultimately, its up to everyone in the league.

Any other suggestions?

Also, please say your in the league in this thread. I've read some people would join if this and that were done, and I will do whatever people want as long as everyone else in the league wants it as well. So far, everyone is pretty laid back and agreeable, so sign up.

I'm in. However, and this is not a deal breaker, I think the flex position is really stupid. The whole point of fantasy football is that you nave to manage a roster and make lineup decisions. Putting a flex position in eliminates that to an extent and makes the game too easy. Instead of having to make a tough informed decision between two RB's you can just throw one of them at the flex and be done with it. I say get rid of the flex altogether and just go with standard positions. Force people to actually use some skill in putting a lineup out there.

Thats valid, but if we include an extra RB/WR flex to the rosters, it does give people a chance to start that guy they are not sure about, but in my experience, it breaks up the guys who start their usual weekly starters and don't do anything else. The extra flex is there to make the league more competitive, so people have to work their rosters every week and possibly make waiver moves. I remember last year McFadden had that one huge 57 point week, thats what I want, the one player who can make your week, so everyone has to stay on their toes.

If everyone else don't want the added flex, we can kill it, no big deal, I just think it adds to the league something positive.
