I usually get absolutely smoked in fantasy baseball every year. So turning to the great minds of the CSFMB for some Keeper help this year. I'm allowed to keep 5, but each one costs me a draft pick. 3 keepers=no draft pick to round 4. Players on my team who are not hot garbage: Adam LaRoche Robinson Cano Ryan Zimmerman Dustin Pedroia 2B/SS Eric Chavev 1B/3B Carlos Gonzalez Bryce Harper Melky Cabrera Will Middlebrooks Jered Weaver Matt Moore Chris Sale Jeff Samardzija Joel Hanrahan Jim Johnson At this point I think I'm getting Cano, Harper and Jered Weaver. At that point I'm picking in round 4 so would almost definitely go pitching again so debating whether holding onto Sale or Samardzija is worth it. Sale is obviously a huge risk and I don't trust Samardzija yet. Scoring is by team totals for: AVG, Runs, Stolen Bases, HR's, RBI's, OPS and "ERA, WHIP, SV, K's, W's and K'9 with a minimum of 5 games started for era and whip. |

Keep Weaver, Harper, Sale, and Matt Moore. If Samardizija is the type to go in the 4th rd, Id rather have Matt Moore. |

I thought I'd want to keep Cano due to the overall lack of 2B depth. |

Did you guys not see this? The guy who said this... Joe Bisceglie @joebisceglie My sources tell me that Melky Cabrera will be suspended soon for violation of MLB's PED policy 3:47 PM - 18 Jul 12 has just said this Joe Bisceglie @joebisceglie Anonymous Source: Cano, Granderson, A-Rod and Braun will all be suspended for failing PED test this season. 7:41 PM - 04 Mar 13 --- Sini posted that and I would be hesitant to keep a guy like that. Without that post, I love Cano. Great fantasy player, but if you're keeper is out for 50 games, you're pretty fucked. |

I actually went looking yesterday after he posted it. |

Also, even though he won 20 games, Weaver was hurt towards the end of last year. He's pretty durable but something to watch for |

since you seem to be hesitant over the concept of keepers, i reckon i'd definitely go with harper and moore. sure weaver and sale, to a lesser/1-yr extent, have obviously proved more than matt moore.... once if you look at his #s last year, shoot, once he stops walking people he's gonna be a problem for hitters. if you figure that the rays are gonna let price walk when free agency comes after either this year or the next (i forget) i'm thinking they're hoping that matt moore takes that step forward to be the kind of dominant guy he was in the minors for a few years. and bryce harper? welp, clown questions notwithstanding, he does seem to have a nice pedigree going forward. i mean, if you think you can get a better first round pick than carlos gonzalez with otehr people keeping a bunch of 1-5 round picks, well then, god bless you and godspeed. that said, if you want to have any sort of upward mobility going forward, you'd do well to keep the two i mentioned. |

We can keep up to ten players (23-man rosters). It's an auction league. You get $260 to spend in the draft. As of now, I plan on keeping the bold players below. I keep going back and forth over Fielder vs. Bruce. Keep Fielder, and I have $60 to spend on the final 13 rosters. Keep Bruce, and it's $79 for the final 13 spots. Thoughts??? Votto 19 Headley 5 Rutledge 4 Prado 10 Fielder 54 Braun 44 Bruce 35 McCutchen 13 Hamels 32 Kershaw 15 Jim Johnson 4 Brett Anderson 4 Peavy 4 |

So essentially its Fielder or Bruce and a Joey Votto type? Id say launch Prince |

If Votto were to be auctioned this year, he'd go $60-70. Pujols went for $76 last year, if that's a better reference. Fielder at $54 looks bad in comparison to Votto at $19, but I don't think he's that overpriced. |

Oh, well that changes things. What can you get for 19 right now? |

rogers park bryan wrote: Oh, well that changes things. What can you get for 19 right now? Probably could fill C (Wieters ideally), third OF, and a SP/RP for $19. Just thinking back to last year's draft, there were quite a few guys in my queue once my roster was full, who I could have had for a dollar, Dunn being one of them. Leads me to believe having the most $$$ to spend going into the draft isn't necessarily the best thing. I kept $191 ($30 more than the second highest) going into last year and won the league. Fuck it, I'll keep Prince. Thanks for your thoughts, RPB. I know how fun it is to discuss someone else's fantasy team. |

What's with the hesitation on keeping Weaver? Just turned 30 and the injury last year coupled with the upside of Moore and Sale? |

Ive had him in a bunch of leagues and I keep thinking he's gonna have a down year and Im gonna get stuck with him. |

Had the auction draft today. Ended up keeping Votto Prado Rutledge Fielder Braun McCutchen Headley Hamels Kershaw Peavy And drafted M Montero B Roberts Espinosa Aoki Segura Baez (minor leaguer) T Hudson Perkins Romo Street Wei-Yin Chen McDonald Pettite Ryu Holland Can't say I'm happy with who I drafted, but the guys I kept should be enough to offset that. |
