Given the shitshow of bye weeks in week 9 & 10 there are many teams in a bind. Do you consider "renting" a player out of bounds.

For example, I have an agreed upon trade where I give up Brady & Crabtree (this week only) for Greg Olsen & Kendall Wright (Bye).

We will exchange Kendall Wright & Crabtree back so the trade becomes:
Brady & 1 week of Crabtree for Olsen.

Is that shady?

Renting players would be a shady move in any league. I probably wouldn't allow it in a league I was in/running.

That is bullshit and I would quit the league after that year if they were not kicked out of it.

I'm commissioner of this league. I would kick you out.

Shady.

Kick Theo Epstein out of your league right now.

I would gladly leave if stuff like this was going on. Wouldn't want to be in a league like that.

Both trades would be vetoed in a real league.

Trade has been fixed. Same protestations were brought up by leaguemates.

Brady+T. Williams
for
Olsen+K. Wright

With Eli & Flacco I had too many QBs. I'll now flip Dwayne Allen for something or keep him as a flex. I don't know.

Our league would veto, and people would probably quit if it went through.

My buddy's league has rentals, but it was agreed to before the season.

It's bad but I've actually seen worse.

Commissioner in my old league changed a waiver date on a player so he could pick the guy up early. He did this twice and finally someone caught him. I don't understand the need to try and pull one over on your friends to say you won at fantasy football. Some people need all the help they can get though I suppose.

A couple of guys tried this once in a league I ran... I think we vetoed it, but I honestly don't remember. New rule the year after that and ever after is that once you trade a player off your team, you're not eligible to roster that player again for the rest of the season. I suppose there could be some legitimate situations this is prohibiting, but I don't recall it coming up in the last ten years or so.

What if the team you traded your player to ended up dropping that player? I would think picking him up again would be fair.

But the "renting" thing is shitty.

creative... neither trade is unfair... whats the problem...? Its not against your rules either... next year put a clause saying you cant trade back for 4 weeks or something similar if you want to stop it.... or dont allow trades, leaguemates are a bunch of whiners if you ask me

this isbasically equivalent to how theo used to game the system by overslotting draft picks.... his less creative GM brethren whined and they put a rule in place to stop him

It would be uncool. Dealing with byes are part and parcel of the strategy. It's essentially collusion of a different stripe.

I wish I never asked. I would've proposed with the renting aspect and gotten my trade vetoed.

Nope, listened to you guys, and now I'm stuck with Olsen whose dickhead QB throws 99mph missiles 8 feet over everyone's head.

Serves you right for even thinking of doing something so unethical.

Yeah, but it just doesn't happen in my league -- I would say trades in general average maybe 0.6 per season. Also every league should have a trade deadline, IMHO.
