...I'm absolutely shocked...SHOCKED, I tell you...to discover that they dont have enough servers to keep up with the demand...

...why anyone would want to shell out for a title with dedicated servers at launch is beyond me.

I'm not really well versed in the computer server thing. Aren't dedicated servers a good thing to prevent host advantage?

Sure, that's one way to do it...you could also write better code that doesn't create a host advantage as easily...sure, you'll still have it, but it will have a minimal impact to the outcome of the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but COD4 for the PC was a system where anyone could create a server. I'm fine with that.

I'm talking about a console game where the only servers are the ones provided by the dev/publisher and they never, ever, put enough of them up at launch.

Dedicated servers is when users can create and host dedicated servers for a game. I.E. I can purchase or rent a server from Branzone or some such company, and host a dedicated CoD4 or BF2 or whatever server that other gamers can publicly join.

MW2 via IWNet is the opposite of a game being considered 'w/ dedicated servers.' Server hosting is all done by the developer / publisher combo, and freedom is taken away from the users.
