hola amigos, i've recently finally been freed from the bondage of contracts with verizon wireless. i initially signed up with them in jan 2008 because i had a "girlfriend" in long island who loved to talk to me for hours a day, and having burned through $100s of phone cards for most of 2007, i was attracted to the concept of having free verizon-to-verizon calls and never needing a phone card again. i got a motorola razr and a 2 year contract, which ended up being a 450 minute plan and rah rah rah.

long story short: i lost the razr on the metra, and had to get another phone... the guy @ the verizon store neglected to mention that the $69 phone i was getting was $69 cuz it included a contract re-uppage, so i had no idea that i had another 1.5 years added to my deal because the guy was a dick. i then discovered i loved twitter via SMS, as a $900 phone bill made me go "oh fuck, i need a texting plan" --- when it was all said and done, my monthy bill post taxes was $85-100 for 450 minutes/month and unlimited texting with 25mb data (i had to get the data plan for the LG ENV touch, a touchscreen dumbphone... total ripoff by verizon... and btw those phones blow, never get a phone named after one of hte seve ndeadly sns)

so now i've finally gotten out of the contract, and with my old phone dead a friend gave me a LG VX9700 touchscreen dumbphone au gratis, which is pimp... i got verizon down to their lowest deal, one stores can't give you, $34.99/month for 300 minutes and then $15/month for 1500 texts (and all picturemsgs to twitter/twitpic are counted as a text, not data)... so with taxes and everything the bill is $64/month, which beats the shit out of the perpetual $85-100/month bills i had for 450minutes and unlimited texts for most of hte last 1.5 years... but like, even tho verizon is technically a very good provider if you're willing to overpay, i would LOVE to get one of those legendary ~$50/month unlimited everything deals that people always talk about... cuz man, for $64/month i reckon i could get a smartphone somewhere and like, have a real proper fucking phone.

so does anyone have a good provider/deal they could recommend? fuck apple, i'd definitely want to go android... so like, i'm guessing when you go smartphone with a cricket/us-cellular type carrier you gotta pay $100-200/+ for the smartphone and then the $50/month for unlimited stuff kicks in.... so where can i go to get a nice proper android phone (and what's a good phone?) for a nice proper price? i know that some of you guys have this stuff going so help a brother out!
