****SPOILER ALERT*****

highlight below...

Finally finished the game. Good game, but c'mon with the Terminator lookin' boss battle. Just plain bad... and easy. Why do the Reapers need to make a robot that looks like a human? They tried to address this, but it was a weak explanation. How come none of the other Reapers look like different species. Not sure why the need to move the plot line from Spectre to Cerebus. I still think the Smoking Man... um, I mean the Illusive Man is such a blatant ripoff and not really deep. Most of the political interspecies drama was lost in this plot line. They introduced waaaaaaay too many new characters... many of which didn't add anything to the plot. I liked adding Jack and Samara and maybe even Legion. But Grunt, Morlin, Thane, Miranda and Zaeed were throw away characters.

That being said, there is alot of good dialogue... from quality drama to funny quips. And I did like finding out where the Protheans went. I also liked learning more about the Geth. But I have to admit, we've seen the "Hive Mind" Synthetic lifeforms a bazillion times before.

At the end of the day, the plot in the second game was weak, but the gameplay improvements helped make up for the meandering plot line.

I read a decent amount and I eat up good character development with a spoon. You dilute the story with all these new characters you introduce. And I find myself what have we learned new about the Reapers since ME1? Not much. And what have we learned about the main protaganist (Shepard) since ME1? Not much. Haven't we essentially left ME2 just like we left ME1? With the Reaper fleet floating in deep space waiting for an impending invasion?ME1 created a beautiful world with some great interspecies politics. I think ME2 kinda failed to advance the plot. I saw ME2 as an endless series of homages to other sci fi movies.

I think it is a good game, but I'm off the bandwagon for Game of the Year.

Hey, you weren't forced to be introduced to all those characters...you chose to recruit them...

Even if I concede that the story is worse, which I'm not ready to, the improvements to the gameplay and sidequests makes this a better game for me...no question.

EDIT: Really glad Tali and Garrus came back as playable, as they were definitely my two favorite characters from Mass Effect 1.

I liked Tali too... but she got killed in my game.

Well... just put the thing up on ebay. While I enjoyed the game... I'm really not interested in playing it again as a Paragon.... at leat not while I know the ending. Besides I gotta finish Bioshock 2 and BF:BC2 is coming out in early March. Then Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake. Good stuff coming, I hope.

Yeah, I had her, Mordin and Zaeed die the first time I finished the game...loaded up the same game and the second time I played I made a few different choices and everyone lived...

I chose to bang Miranda.

I'm also starting up my third play-through tomorrow.

I liked the story but it really was one giant setup for ME3. The technical issues that plagued the ME1 were all pretty much fixed and the combat was top notch although I kind of miss the ability to "shop" for all sorts of different equipment and such as in the 1st game even if the inventory sys. was mess. I guess that is just the Baldurs Gate fan in me.

Also, I'm waiting patiently to see if Bioware releases some truly epic downloadable content...it will probably be $$$ but it would be cool if they introduced some top notch stuff to tide us over.

In my tradition to play games months after their release, I finally played the demo last night and have conluded that this game is the mad note. Thus, it will be purchased as soon as I finish Fallout 3.

Here I thought releasing a demo this long after the game came out was pointless...well, it looks like it told at least one person on it...

Make that two...well, sort of...

My friend is scrolling through the demos on his Xbox and I see Mass Effect 2...he comments "I wonder when that's coming out"...

 seriously?

After being reminded of how awesome this game was by the VGAs a few weeks ago, I decided to pop it in and play through the suicide mission again...fucking awesome...

I'm having a little remorse for having sold it.

I'm gonna have to go back and replay the intro on the 360, because there was a lot of framerate jittering and texture popping that I don't remember seeing the first time I played through the game.

First impression: the engine is going to need some work before Mass Effect 3 launches...

I would think the demo is not final code.

Considering the game is coming out on the PS3 next month, I'm thinking that it's pretty close to final.
