I've been so busy with hockey that I haven't turned on my PS3 or 360 since last March. I'm gonna make some time to play games and want to know what game I should get. The last two games I played were Ratchet & Clank (didn't finish it, might go back and do it) and Borderlands (finished it).

Normally I can't play FPS because I get dizzy and nauseaus, but for some reason I was able to play Borderlands. I don't like multiplayer games and in fact cancelled my membership to XBOX live a few months ago so not interested in any games where that is the main component.

I was thinking about Red Dead. How is that? I know it gets great reviews, but I'm a little weary because its a Rock Star game and I hate GTA. Does Red Dead require you to ride around and do errands all day as well as restart missions all the way from the very begininng when you screw them up? Those are the things that turned me away from GTA.

My favorite games are third person shooters like Infamous.

So please give me some suggestions and then I can reply back why you're an asshole for suggesting such bad games. Thanks!

Darksiders (hack and slash)

Does it require some sort of Avaya tech certification in order to go to the next level, similar to having to go thru flight school in GTA San Andreas

(BTW, that was a bitch....I think it took me two weeks just to get thru flight school :x )

I was done with GTA after Vice City .... tried the one with the Russian dude as a main character and truly hated it 5 minutes after starting the game.

That said, RDR is really, really good and worth a chance - particularly in light of your similar disdain for GTA. Sure it has a resemblance to GTA, but more cosmetically than anything else, to the extent that you might actually enjoy what you can quickly recognize as both similar and different.

Ever play the original Bioshock? If not, go find that in the bargain bin and enjoy the hell out of that .... #2 was "m'eh", sadly.

Then again, there's always Dominoes or Uno to pass the time, too!

I don't do stealth so Assassin's Creed is out of the question.

I think I'll give Red Dead a shot since its 3rd person plus I love westerns.

I'm hesitant to try Bioshock or Resistance since they are FPS and 99% of the time I can't play those games.

ImmessedUp, you sure did recommend some crappy games. Prototype? that game sucks.

Basically I'm only looking for stuff that came out in the last year since that's when I lost touch with the gaming world.

I'll pass on Mass Effect, I hate games with stories and cut scenes. I put up with them as opposed to enjoying them and I definitely don't seek them out.

Prototype is extremely similar to Infamous, though lacking the same quality.

What other crappy game did I mention?

I think (know) that you have very different criteria than most people when it comes to judging games.

That Darksiders game is supposed to be nothing special if I remember correctly. And is Forgotten Sands a Prince of Persia game? If so, hellz no.

Other than that, I just felt that I had to live up to reputation and give someone crap even though they were trying to help me out. It ain't easy being me, lots of hype to live up to.

Sounds like Crackdown 2 would be more up your alley, shakes.

You can also download Serious Sam (it was on sale recently, sorry) .... check out the demo, you might like it what with your penchant for 3rd-person shooters. Not a heluva lot of storyline/cutscenes to deal with, and just ungodly numbers of things to kill and ammo to do it with. Certainly a cheaper option than RDR .... not saying better because it's not, but the more I think about it, it might be a better fit.

despite my dislike for storytelling in games, I'm gonna give Red Dead a shot because I love westerns and the thought of getting to be in a spaghetti western is quite appealing.

I have a coupon from Gamestop where if I buy two used games I get another used game free. I'm gonna buy Red Dead and FIFA and for the 3rd one I might go with God of War3 or possibly that Vanquish game which looks pretty mindless.

I'll check out that Serious Sam demo if I get back online.

The other genre I really like is the hack and slash RPG with a top down view like Champions of Norrath. I hear there is a new one coming out this year in that genre, plus I might download that Deathspank game.

Dungeon Siege 3 comes out next year. God of War 3 is good, but very short. Never played Vanquish.

Yep, Dungeon Siege 3 is the one I was thinking about. It doesn't come out in 2011?

I ended up getting Red Dead used and a new copy of FIFA since they didn't have it used. had them check a bunch of other stores for a used copy but there were none in my area.
