I just started playing this again over the Thanksgiving holiday. I finally went through and killed Alduin and joined the stormcloaks to defeat the Imperials. I think I might have waited too long because both things were way too easy. Alduin was barely even a challenge and I dont think I even healed my character once when storming the Imperial forts and cities.

Bethesda games have never gotten "challenge" correct in their games...granted it is hard to do in an open-world RPG that focuses on being able to explore whenever you want.

I think that is the problem. At first, my character was dying all the time it was almost too challenging. I'd be cleaning out a barrow full of Draugr and they would throw a new level of Draugr at me and I would just get smoked right away. Now, I think maybe I would have to fight an elder dragon and a giant at the same time to have to really be challenged.

Started playing again. Still juggling characters and have about 6 going between levels 10 and 35. Now playing on PC after starting on PS3 and trading it in for a 360 version after the PS3 one had some save issues when the game first came out. The mods obviously help. Not big on changing the gameplay too much, but things like faster mining, town house markers, a better UI, a map that shows roads, and easier to see ore veins makes for a nicer experience.

I picked up Oblivion for $20 for PS3 this past summer and am still playing it. In late fall/early winter I would sometimes go 6 weeks between sessions but I just started on the Shivering Isles expansion so I'm thinking I could squeeze another 2 or 3 months out of this game.
