So I finally went ahead and played through Chapter 12...that was something...

...not sure how much there is in chapter 13 besides the final boss, and I'm not really in a big hurry to find out...just want to keep questing and building up characters...

Hmm, i erm stumbled  upon something mentioned earlier in the thread. Interesting comic where Lightning sees a couple in the forest, gets turned on, and proceeds to diddle herself... with her sword. Then there is some sort of random tentacle rape. Decent artwork.

Japanese people come up with anything...

google "hiwainaru fantasy 13"

Think I'm halfway through 13, not in a big hurry either, but since my Crystariums are maxxed out I'm compelled to go forward. The first part of 13 is a cakewalk with maxxed stats, plus everyone has 2nd tier weapons at * levels.

I've got everyone maxed out in their primary roles and am working on the other three now...however, I've been neglecting upgrading weapons and accessories...need to do some more farming for components before I move on I think...

It takes like 30 Ultracompact reactors to fully upgrade the last level, so only like 1.5 million credits each. That's a lot of dead megaturtles.

I did finish the main story last night too. The last Crystarium levels are awesome improvements. No new abilities but the hp nodes for Snow are +500 each and everyone else's are comparably big with hp magic and strength. I think the plot completely went of the rails around chapter 7. Even keeping up with the story through the datalog proved futile. I mean I sorta get it, just a whole lot of gaps.

Also I love that buffing and debuffing are critical in a game for once. It used to be maybe haste and slow were maybe worth it, but here being fully buffed and your target debuffed makes all the difference in most of the end game fights.

Killing trash is a snap with sprint shoes and the scarf that gives you first strike. The Behemoth and the Giant wolf thing that fight each other is the best CP in the game. Kill them in 10 seconds, run away for 10 seconds, come back and they've respawned, keep getting 13000 CP.

This.

I remember the first time I walked past them, thinking "of fuck, I hope they leave me alone...shit, they didn't..." It's amazing how easy a behemoth is to kill when you stagger him right away and he never has a chance to stand up and rip that giant blade out of his back...

I'm still trying to cheese my way into killing one of those turtles and thus far I've been unsuccessful...might just have to wait until my characters are actually strong enough to take it on legit, but that seems like a long ways away...

So I'm only getting 6600 CP for that behemoth and wolf combo...do they change the CP you earn as you progress?

I'm going to try for that now too...I managed to get Death to work once, but I died before I could summon to save my character...

Edit: let's just pretend that never happened, ok?

It's amazing what happens when you don't have a single offensive paradigm ready for a fight...

Giant Facepalm...

Man you guys are really making me want to get this. Now I haven't played a FF game since 7 and I think I may be the only person who didnt' like it (thats worthy of its own thread) and stopped playing the series after that. Other than Oblivion I think Xenosaga was the last console RPG I played - and that was on the original XBOX 6 or 7 years ago. For someone like me who has been out of the FF loop for awhile, would I be able to pick it up and be able to dive in?

I take it back...

First it got me the growth egg...then it took down one of the giant turtles...80000 cp and a trapezoidalwhateverthehellitscalled later, I'm happy...

I'm guessing the problem existed between the controller and chair..

Yeah, like I said, it's hard to kill stuff when you don't have a paradigm that has a ravager or commando...basically, I always have Lightning as my leader, so when switching to Vanille, I pretty much rushed making a paradigm that had a SAB/MED/SEN and completely forgot about offense...

...I didn't even need to summon after killing the green guy...and I got five stars...

Wish it let you save paradigms and accessory setups, it's a pain swapping people in and out.

Does that strategy guide list all the weapons and the various levels for them?

Note to self: if you really want to 5 star fights then set the atb gauge refill to normal and not slow.

Really? I was thinking the time to complete was adjusted for that...

I had assumed it did too and it would be easy enough to test I guess but I'm at work.

Only reason I'm thinking that is because I set it to slow when I was trying to death the mark for the Growth Egg, and when I finally beat it, the time seemed a lot less than what it actually took...I dunno though...

I don't know as I haven't played this installment, but previous FF games rewarded a skilled player for turning the ATB charge bar to fastest. For example, when you fought the Demon Wall on FF12 you could slaughter it a lot more easily when your characters were attacking/healing a lot faster.

I think I'm very close to the end...have mowed down numerous boss type characters (judging that by the CP earned, because I'm so overleveled at this point it's absurd) and now I just warped to a wierd room...

If it looks like the information superhighway, yes. If you haven't mowed down the boss characters twice at least you may have a bit more to go.
