I went down a wormhole looking for a new TV on the internet yesterday and became really disappointed at the end.

No one really knows when 4K will be mainstream. Regular HD is compressed enough and there's not a whole lot of bandwidth available because there's so many channels that exist now. If you're going to put out a signal 4 times stronger you need the bandwidth. The FCC is selling most of its bandwidth to cell phone companies rolling out 5G. They feel most people, especially in the near future, will be watching TV on their phones.

Then I found out about over-the-air 4K broadcast television. They're transitioning from ATSC 1.0 to ATSC 3.0/4K. This new broadcast TV technology will have something called "return data path," where they'll keep track of who is watching what. Each network will then target certain areas and people with specific commercials and ads.

I don't want a TV or a phone now.

We should produce our own 4K content, a death match between pittmike and LTG.
