Anyone got this game? I wouldn't consider myself a huge soccer fan but I like this game, me and a buddy always get some good international matches going.

I got it for Christmas, but I am such a noob when it comes to the new gaming tech
that I got discouraged pretty early because I couldn't kick straight in the practice field.

I mostly stick to being Sonny Liston and beating the everloving shit out of middleweights in Fight Night 4.

It is a tough game to get down as I was discouraged just like you. I kept at it and now am decent at it,the controls are very sensitive so you have to be precise in direction and power.

I know. I was really looking forward to it. I give up too easily sometimes.

I'm full tilt into this game at the moment. I've got Liverpool going in manager mode. I like taking one of the lower division teams up to the premier league glory but I haven't done that yet. I forget the name of the mode but the one where you create a player and play him only is a little clunky. They had something similar to that in NHL 10 and I didn't care for it there either. I also struggled scoring goals at first and started out in the easiest level just so I could pick up the controls because I hadn't played a new soccer game since Winning Eleven 9. I've since moved up and rarely score more than 3 or 4 in a match now, but I could easily get 10 on the noob difficulty. I'm shite on set pieces but have had luck with crosses. The key to passing without losing possession is using the through pass whenever you can.

I played "My Player" mode for a long time before getting into manager/team play. It's pretty good until you realize that all the achievements you're piling up in order to make your national team don't add up to playing the World Cup - that'll come in a separate installment due out this summer. That alone was enough to make me put it down for a while, but those winter nights are long and cold, so then I conquered manager/team play and have come to the conclusion that FIFA is very much equal to Madden in that EA can just throw a couple of tweaks together with updated rosters and people will still play the stupid game (myself included.)

If you love FOOTIE (or just soccer video games) you'll be into it for a while, but brace yourself for disappointment.

Winning 11 was much better than FIFA.
