Well real guitar-ish Fender Mustang

Includes "Pro-Mode" not that I have any chance at playing.

I know there's a ton of big titles coming out, but there's only 2 games I care about and they come out 10/26 (RB3) and 11/2 (GT5). Argh. Still have to decide if I want to pull the trigger on the G27 racing wheel. What's $225 here and there? Guess it's either that or a "real" RB3 guitar.

If had the space I'd be tempted to make one of those fake cockpits for it, but I'm too far removed from shop class to make one and don't have any room as it is.

I think I'll wait for one of you to buy the real guitar and post if it is worth the money. Personally, it could be a great way to learn how to rock out IRL. That is, if everything translates to an actual guitar.

Title of this thread should've been....

Rock Band 3: now includes real guitar, but still won't get you laid.

:salut:

Ain't that the truth, and one of the best ones coming out, Test Drive Unlimited 2, received very little attention at E3... If you get that G27 racing wheel KD, let me know how it goes, I might pick that up for Test Drive and Turismo.

Well one day 'til release. Working a whole bunch extra today and taking Tuesday off to plastic rock out. Gamestop is doing a midnight release, it's probably mostly for the Force Unleashed 2 and Fable 3 but I won't complain. Doesn't look like "Pro" guitars will release yet, but I'll be too busy rocking keytar to "Heart of Glass."

Well the new tour mode is what I need. I think I'm around 1300 songs anyway so what's a few more. Playing them in the old RB2 mode wasn't very efficient.

This is just from listening to people who got it early and some reviews, I'll know for sure tomorrow but...

First of all there's actual "tours." You don't just pick a venue, play a song/songs and then you're done. You actually go from city to city and there are different tour "legs." Each tour has goals that it asks you to meet, like note streaks, overdrive activations, etc... Meeting those goals unlocks things and awards you spades (not sure exactly what these do) but you don't get things through money, just unlocking through goals. Supposedly there are hundreds of different goals through out the game that should make it less repetative. No more stupid confuse the drummer things or get 1/2 the fans but twice the money offers.

The biggest thing for me as I said before was that I think it will be more efficient. The problem I have when doing the tour is deciding on which songs to pick for a set. With over 1000 it takes a while to slog through the menu and choose the right ones and I spend a lot of time think "hmmm, do I want to play this?" and then a bunch of time is wasted. I could just go with the Random Setlist option but again, with a lot of songs there's a bunch I don't want to play at all. RB3 has a system for you to rate your songs from 1-5 lighters. If you go with the random setlist now, songs with 5 lighters will show up often in your set and songs with 1 won't show up at all. That way you can be pretty sure you'll be playing songs you want to play and not have to worry about a song you don't want to play coming up. I can rank some songs 2 lighters that I don't know very well and have them show up every once in a while and I can see if I like it and then rate it up or down after that.

"Pro"'keyboard is stupid fun. I only played Whip It on medium and even though I barely passed I was smiling the whole time because it was so cool. Sleeping for a bit and then starting back up.

i just read a review on this in this months Guitar Player magazine. The thing I am most interested is that once you get it dialed in and synced properly, you could use it as a midi controller. now that would be something I could put to great use. sound generation from thousands of VST patches!

I've seen Les Claypool play this live, but it's still pretty cool to see it in a visual representation in video game form.
