I was just browsing over the Wikipedia page for this game. This might be the first Wii game that I will buy in over 2 years. The roster of legends is pretty exciting too. You can re-live the glory days of the Vancouver Grizzlies and unlock Big Country Bryant Reeves. Check out the article for the rest of the rosters.

Need to ask Shakes how this competes with Wii Glory Hole

Reading the roster list made me sad that there is no longer a Sonics team so you cant reunite the Glove and Reign Man oh and they had to put Detlef Schrempf on the Pacers....and speaking of the Pacers no Rik Smits? Cmon.

No legend for the Bucks... Paul Pressey? Terry Cummings?

I guess I won't be purchasing this on the Wii. If you buy NBA Elite (formerly NBA Live) on XBox or PS3, you get a code for a free download of NBA Jam.

Nice!

NBA Jam and Hangtime are by far my favorite basketball games. The NBA Lives were good too

midway folded a few years back, right? if so then this is prolly a pretender to the throne hyping us older heads out with the memories of yesteryear.

i remember acclaim ended up with the rights to the NBA Jam name and started pumping out lame new-engine/comletely-different games called NBA Jam 3v3 or something whilst midway cruised forward with hangtime (~73-0 at UIC back in the day what what) and then showtime and then.... yeesh. i fell off after showtime.

didn't NBA street kind of take over the niche? i mean i'm skeptical about this cuz like, OG nba jam was my shit back in the day... i used to irc with one of the programmers at midway who explained the shot % system and like, yeah. tournament edition ABA ball... awww yeah. neil funk droppin the boomshakalaka catchin fire on mofos droppin bombs like trouble funk... 'twas the best basketball game ever made.

incidentally, if you can dig up the old PC/dos version of NBA Jam TE it's a completely faithful arcade port down to the scaling on the sprites. rock a post/gravis and you're good to go, once again like trouble funk.

I hope they don't have it where if you're ahead by 10-20 pts. and they let the computer catch up by stealing like crazy and making you miss shots.

Update:
Quote:
A downloadable HD version of NBA Jam for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 was planned to be bundled with copies of NBA Elite 11. This version initially lacked the Wii version's Remix Tour mode, but included online multiplayer. However, due to the delay of NBA Elite 11, the HD versions of NBA Jam will now be standalone products, scheduled for release in 2010, and will include the Remix Tour mode.[10]

So because Andrew Bynum becomes Jesus in NBA Elite, now I have to go out and buy NBA Jam separately?

yeah how is this game anyone/everyone/etc? if they went back and absoltuely ripped off the old game and have the same principles of shot % and just updated the graphics and rosters, then i reckon it'll be good. if they tried to reinvent teh wheel as opposed to just letting it roll in style then it's gonna blow.

quite honestly, nba jam was a damn near perfect game that only required better graphics and newer rosters... showtime was slightly off but still playable... i never fucked with hoopz. or what weird acclaim nba jam 3v3 thing. or nba X-TREME.... i think i have an old nba ballers downstairs, which i believe was midway, but like... yeah.

y'all know the ghost of drazen petrovic haunts the original NBA jam arcade version, right? it just randomly shouts out PETROVIC! sometimes. a moment of silence for the red carpet for serbian nba players...
