Game drops on March 29th. I went to the website and I see you can download a
demo, just curious if anyone has tried this. I have a Wii and it looks like this option
is only available through X-box or PS3. I think I have the 2009 version of this game
and haven't played it for years so I may need to try it out for a while and make sure
I still want this version. Pretty sure I am going to spring for it. I haven't played any
new versions so I am not sure what courses were available but some of the courses
on this new one that interest me include Augusta National ( of course ), Pebble Beach,
St Andrews, TPC Sawgrass, The Greenbrier, and surprisingly Whistling Straits. Pretty
sure Pebble and St. Andrews have always been on this game but the others have me
pretty excited.

Played the demo on XBox the other day and enjoyed it. While I think this series (like any other long-running video game brand) is simply running out of ways to present the same game, there are a few new features that are pretty cool.

For one, you get a caddy this time around who offers two different shots (at least) for each stroke along with risk percentages and whatnot. The swinging mechanics are all the same, however aiming is a little different now due to the added caddy feature.

What I liked most, however, was the improved putting mechanics and shot "pressure" features. You can now aim your putts to a "spot" on the green as opposed to just guessing with the putting grid. You still have the opportunity to see a putt-preview, but I think this is limited in some way. You also have the ability to make your focus more accurate prior to a shot, as if you were calming down during a round.

Augusta looks great on the game, and you can tell that a lot of attention to detail was made for that course in particular.

Original Nintendo golf was pretty cool. I had the Tiger Woods game for N64 and
that was a good time as well.

Cool, thanks for the info. I am literally going to have to blow the dust off my Wii and fire up the
old version for a try. I don't remember it being as fun to play on the Wii as it was with the PS2.
I am hoping this game can get me back into video games a little bit.

Is that risk % the caddy tells you? I just thought it was how hard of a swing you needed to take. Demo was fine, not much there, but I can start on some tour instead of some other tour, how cool is that? Then I can put in my game face and have it make me a weird shade of yellow again.

I'll be picking this up tonight if I can find it at Target. First new game I have
purchased since that Super Mario game came out. That was a long time ago.

I also thought it was how hard you should swing the club, although the risk percentage is a good point. Short answer: I have absolutely no idea.

I picked up Tiger Woods 2011 last Saturday and am pretty happy with the game. I haven't bought a golf game in a long time, so for $25 why not?

I picked it up for $49.95 at Target tonight. It is a lot of fun so far. Just got
done with the front nine at Augusta. I wish this would have come out over
the winter so I would have had something to do. Graphics probably not as
awesome on the Wii but still fun using the Wiimote to hit shots.

I picked this up the other day. I haven't been able to play it too much but will definitely get into it this weekend. This is my first TW purchase since the old XBOX days. Think 2006 was the last one I had. EA pulled kind of a douche move by making at least a dozen more courses only purchasable through XBOX points. Has that been a common theme in recent years with this game? They have some of the fantasy courses from the old games: The Highlands, The Predator, Emerald Dragon. I liked that Penguin Falls one from 2004 where you played amidst icebergs but that's not available. I'm still figuring out the controls. I was used to the tapping of the power button pre-swing and then adjusting the spin of the ball mid-flight. I don't see myself being able to shoot in the high 40s or low 50s like the last game I owned in this franchise.

Yeah they've been hosing us on DLC courses for a while. It's not like the disc is full and they have to cut them. Guess they have to make up the money they must have had to pay to get Augusta.

The DLC course thing is one of the reasons I've quit buying these games. I understand having to charge for DLC when it's a course we haven't had before, but when they removed Spyglass from the disc a few years back and then wanted 800 points for it, I was pissed.

If when you downloaded courses you could put them into the tour mode I might consider it, but the extra courses just kinda sit there, doing nothing.

Yeah, I agree that having to buy DLC courses over and over again is really annoying. Therefore, I try to not do it.

That's a lie. My XBox 360 game only came with 14 courses.

Holy shit EA, that's even worse. So now there's a tournament event you have to skip unless you buy the DLC? That's comic book villain evil.

Good thing I play on PS3 and can split DLC 5 ways. Running out of log-ins though.

Got the collectors edition tonight and got in a DLC share for the "Eagle pack." That basically gets me 30+ courses so I should be set.

Don't worry, they will still give us the greatest FPS ever made come this fall.

I didn't realize Respawn's first game was announced for this year... :P

Motherfuck this caddy and putting. When I follow his advice, it sucks, when I think his advice sucks and I aim myself, he was right.. I never had a problem aiming putting since it was on PS2. I think my golfer has the yips too, I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm putting better from 10 feet than 4 feet.

I played Augusta yesterday and shot a 75. The putting is really difficult. I think I have it set to the
standard mode but I may have to switch to the other mode where you just have to do it by feel to
see how that works. I've also found that hitting shots between 60-85% is really tough, I usually hit it
too far. I've only played 3 times so maybe it just takes a little time.

The putting does blow at first but just put your xp points into it. Also, your caddy gets better with shot recommendations as you complete a course or tournament. So far I've found hitting those percentages is the hardest part of figuring out the swing.

Getting better at putting. Greens are much faster than I remember from other games. Got my first ace and even did it in tournament mode. Sounds more impressive than it is as I was just screwing around on Augusta's par 3 course seeing how I could put with no assists. Anyway my caddie gave a "green" and "flag" aim reccomendation and I went with green and I holed it anyway. Not that I really saw it since on tournament mode the camera doesn't move with the ball, it just stays on your view from the tee. I guess it's realistic as you have to wait for the crowd roar to know you did it.
