No Dead Space 2 love?

I'm definitely looking forward to Rage. It's been too long since the makers of Quake flexed there muscles. I actually kinda liked Quake: Enemy Territories, but no one played it. Which kinda ruins it, because I play online games to play with friends.

Dead Space 1 was a game I expected nothing from and was pleasantly surprised. It was clean with unique gameplay. The story was actually pretty good... and least it really made you jump out of your chair in parts. The final boss battle stunk, but other than that it was a really good game. Especially those levels in zero gravity and the cool weapons... truly unique gameplay.

Shit that lipid adds...

Agree with the Infamous 2 and Portal 2 love...definately looking forward to playing both of those...

Not only could Uncharted 3 happen in 2011, but I'd bank on it...two years ago, at the 2008 VGAs, we got our first look at Among Thieves...I'm guessing they go with the same timeline and release Drake's Deception in the fall of 2011...

Yeah, Raiden got a bad rap in MGS2, but I think he redeemed himself for a lot of people in MGS4...definately a bad ass...that being said, I'd still rather play as Snake, but I think Rising could be interesting, epsecially if it uses the motion control accessories like was speculated at E3.

I'm not feeling the LA Noire love yet...yeah, Rockstar is awesome and all, but what are you actually doing in this game? I still can't tell, so until then, I'll have to reserve judgement.

As for what I'm looking forward to, the only addition I would make would be Gears 3...I'm interested in seeing how they tie that up, and also to see how the multiplayer shapes up. Horde mode could be interesting as well.

Is this in 2011? While we think it'll be announced...we're not sure. Usually game has to be announced to get it released within the next 12 months. I'll add it at the bottom though.

Phil McCracken wrote:

The last couple I played were 4 and 5. Ace Combat 4 was probably the best entry of the series, and Ace Combat 5 made a lot of improvements...and then messed it up with the campaign missions forcing you to control your 'squadron' of 4 fighters instead of just your own. I enjoyed the 'story' in Ace Combat 4 the most. Supposedly Project Aces (the dev) has a lot of resources for this next entry...so I'm hoping it is pretty good.

I want to say the last one I played was Ace Combat 4 as well. I always just wished that they would have less story and just go right into the missions. Controlling an entire squadron sounds terrible I could barely handle flying my own plane let alone figure out what the other idiots on my squad were doing.

The Wii would never have "anticipated" games, by me anyways. The Wii is only something I ever break out when I have people over...and Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and a couple other games are still the go to ones, after all these years. I don't really wait for games on the Wii like I would on other systems.

Can you think of any?

Zelda is the only one I can.

I haven't heard of anything, but for me that's okay, since there are a lot of games I want that I haven't got yet (Mario Kart, NBA 2k11, DK Country Returns, Epic (HUGE!) Mickey, Wii Sports Resort).

If Uncharted 3 comes out next year I might actually schedule a weeks vacation around that game.

So Portal 2 will be what Portal should have been. A fully fleshed out game...with more hilarious talking robots.

"Portal" WAS unique for gaming in this age. it was a total throwback to the olden days and great days of Infocom puzzle-style games that were challenging and fun...I could so have seen this as one of those games and with all text.

i hope coulton comes back with another song for the sequel.

However, they want to force motion controls on this historic series...and I think it takes away from the game. I miss games like Ocarina of Time...they don't really make games of this ilk anymore. So let's hope this suffices.

have they made a wii zelda game with the mario galaxy engine yet? i borrowed the wii a couple'a weeks ago and plowed through mario galaxy 1 and 2 and i gotta say that they grew on me... i think they're the full realization of the vision that miyamoto and pals had when they first put out mario 64. i didn't fuck around with all the comet stars in 1, but on 2 i'm up to 98 or something and wanna make it to 110 so i can play the grandmaster galaxy and call it a game. i couldn't do those stomp challenges if my life depended on it... weak sauce exemplified.

anyways, what i'm getting at is that if mario galaxy was that good i'd imagine zelda would be pretty damn fun and thus i'm looking forward to it... and if there is a zelda on the wii already, why didn't my brother loan it to me already? hmmm.

the wii controller setup has grown on me, even tho i don't think i'm going to have the patience to work through the metroid fusion trilogy (i played through other M first and i like the way you can just go BAM and have free view in a fixed location. that's tight)

does anyone have any other wii games they could recommend me while i have the system chillin here? i might even find a blockbuster and get down on a rental for the first time in like 10 years =D

Picked it up at K-Mart on PS3 for $20. Looking forward to playing it this evening.

With Kinect and Move both on advanced systems now, is the Wii going to be dying soon? Ours has not been turned on in a couple months, the kids want the Kinect for X-mas.

Has Goldeneye sold well?

That MP looked very solid. 32 is a nice number, more sensible then that MAG shit, but just a little bit more chaotic than the 18 player MW ground war mode... a nice mix...

I don't know how Goldeneye has sold, but I own it and like it. Haven't gotten to play too much, since I'm trying to beat Mario first.

I don't think the Wii wiill die as long as there are Mariio and Zelda games being chugged out for it every few months.

No

Can't speak for the first one, but I thought Resistance 2 was pretty interesting...graphics aren't anything special but they aren't bad either...I found the gameplay to be fun, especially with the weapons like the Auger and the Bullseye...and there were a few "holy shit" moments scattered throughout the campaign...I'd say it's well worth the 25 bucks...

The Splinter Cell trilogy and the Tomb Raider trilogy are both being released as Blu-Ray sets for PS3 in the next year. I've never played Splinter Cell and may consider doing so, but the PS2 / PS3 Tomb Raiders were pretty poor I hear...so I won't play another one of those until the reboot.

Splinter Cell: Conviction was a pretty good stealth game (if you're into that). I enjoyed the playthrough although I felt like the story was basically like watching 24 again. The strategy around stealth games is interesting to me... but I find myself wanting a little more action. The good news is the technology of Splinter Cell Conviction's stealth is pretty flawless. The co-op is a blast... if you have a good friend to play it with.

Little Big Planet is for pretentious douchebags who think putting stickers on go carts and pulling levers is more important than having a working physics engine.

Infamous 2 will be the best game of the year much like its predecesor was the best game of last year.

The Wii is a joke and shouldn't even be considered a gaming system until it adopts HD.

Has there been any word on a Borderlands sequal?

So, I'm trying to prepare myself for playing more games this year...and looking at the schedule thus far...

January 18: Little Big Planet 2
January 25: Dead Space 2
February 22: Bulletstorm
February 22: Killzone 3 (ugh)
March 8: Dragon Age II
March 8: Deus Ex: Human Revolution (I'm on the fence about this)
March 8: Homefront
March 22: Crysis 2
April 12: Brink
April 18: Portal 2
May 28: Red Faction: Armageddon

...

September 6: Resistance 3
September 13: Rage
November 1: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
November 11: THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM

Then there are the ones with no date other than a vague "2011"

Batman: Arkham City (i guess)
Duke Nukem Forever (they say 2011...ok)
Final Fantasy XIV (ROFLMAO)
Forza Motorsport 4
Gears of War 3
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Hitman 5
Infamous 2
I Am Alive
L.A. Noire
Mass Effect 3
Max Payne 3
Modern Warfare 3 (really?)
Mortal Kombat
SOCOM 4
The Last Guardian
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Tomb Raider
Twisted Metal

...yeah, cuts will have to be made...

...and assuming all that comes out, here are your five game of the year nominess (because you can totally judge this just by reading a preview and looking at some clips)...

Portal 2
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
L.A. Noire
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Of course, that's going to change as stuff is announced...

My "must haves"
Dead Space 2 - Loved the first one
Portal 2 - Never played the first one, but I've heard nothing but praise
Red Faction: Armageddon - Really enjoyed Red Faction: Guerilla
Rage - Quake meets Bioshock... count me in
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Never played Oblivion, but Lipid may shoot me if I don't give this one a chance! Honestly, I'm kinda excited about this one.
Batman: Arkham City - I really enjoyed the first one
Mass Effect 3 - One of the best series of all time
Modern Warfare 3... if it comes out - Because I gotta frag with the friends
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - This should be a maybe have, but these are generally very well done FPS's.

My "maybe haves"
Bulletstorm - looks like an entertaining FPS, but I'd rather wait for Rage
Dragon Age II - Looks good, but I'm not sure I have the patience for another RPG if I'm playing ME3 and Elder Scrolls
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Looks really pretty, but don't know much about this game.
Gears of War 3 - Loved the first Gears, but GoW2 left me with a bad taste
L.A. Noire - I like the concept, but generally find Rockstar games as meh.

And Lipid, I don't think I can make any cuts...but I might have to buy some of these (most of these?) after they get price reduced...and maybe even a few of the ones I'm looking forward to less (4's and 5's) used.

The 1's and most likely the 2's are day of purchases though.

What exclusives did I miss that I "must play"...the fact that I am listing Killzone should show a great measure of effort on my part to not be a 360-exclusve person...shit, I even listed Last Guardian without any idea as to what exactly you do in the game and not having played the previous Team Ico games...

I'm going to either have to get one of those game rental services (is it still gamefly?) or start trading in and buying used games if I want to play all of those.

...fuck, I think there might be more PS3 exclusives than 360 exclusvies on that list....

Methinks you are being silly...

Edit: yeah...didn't see Mud's list until now...I fail...

Only PS3 exclusive I'm looking forward to is MLB 11.

Only other game I'm planning to buy at this point is Arkham Asylum 2.
