It's kind of amazing that the three game systems are still so close in market share. For awhile it seemed that the Wii was dominating, but I think the lack of games really hurt. And I would have thought the "free vs. pay" online gaming structure would have had more impact on market share. I'm not sure if it is because Xbox was out first or if Xboxlive is just that popular. Anyway, it still remains a very close race.

Before IMU comes along to sully the reputation of the rest of us PS3 users on the board, the reason the PS3 was the right choice for me isn't because of online play. It's more about the exclusive games...MLB the Show and Uncharted speak to me more than Halo does. I also like using it as a Blu Ray player because the player that is also the tuner for my surround system sucks.

Yep, I think exclusives really is what has kept the market share pretty close. Fortunately all the companies invested in enough exclusives to attract just enough customers to keep the playing field very level.

I completely agree. Both companies have wisely chosen different markets to aim the exclusives at (I don't count Nintendo because I don't have a family, and I'm not 10)

That makes perfect sense to me. With battery packs, extra controller, a router, games, etc...I spend nearly $800 when I bought mine so there was no chance I was going to drop any more money on a gaming system. I still haven't.

I couldn't agree more. 3 healthy consoles hopefully continues the pressure to innovate and/or keep cost low.

It'll only get better next year, when Nintendo unleashes a legitimate console to face off against Sony and Microsoft.

November sales are out... XBOX 360 outsold PS3 by the widest margin I've seen. Almost sold as much as PS3 and Wii combined. I'm guessing Kinect has ALOT to do with that.

I wonder how both Sony and Microsoft are dealing with the next-gen. It's pretty clear that both consoles are selling well. However, if they really want marketshare, I wonder how quickly they will push out the new consoles? I have a hard time thinking 2012. But I wouldn't doubt 2013-14.

If it's the Kinect then people are confused. The Kinect titles other than Dance Central blow.

It's not just about the games though...people dig being able to talk to their console and doing the Minority Report thing, even if they quickly realise after a few minutes that it's just easier to use the damn controller.

Although you gotta admit, telling NetFlix to "STOP", "PAUSE", and "PLAY" is pretty effing cool.

Oh, it's very cool...everyone I've had over and shown it to has been blown away...just so much easier to use the controller.

I talk to my consoles all the time. It's the only thing in my house that actually listens to me.

I wish WIFEBOX had Kinect.

100 bucks to tell Netflix to stop seems steep, but I like Dance Central so I don't care.

I don't have Kinect. No interest. My kids have the Wii... I have the Xbox. I like to keep the separation of church and state.

I have every console cause I'm rich.
