I'm sure we all have a huge list for this, but what are some games that really let you down. Whether it was a sequal that didn't deliver on par with the original or a new game that was insanely hyped and ended up sucking, both scenarios are very disappointing.

Off the top of my head here are a few for me. and I'm sure I'll come back with even more as I think about it...

Resident Evil 5: RE4 was possibly my favorite game of all time. Then they ruined RE5 by making it a co-op game rather than a single player game. As someone who only plays single player, this was a huge let down for me.

Pro Evolution Soccer (the first two on this gen): For years this game dominated its EA competition on the PS2, then it made the jump to the 360/PS3 and completely went to shit. Finally after a few tries the ship was righted and the game became playable again last year, but even now it has lost a lot of ground to EA and many people even claim that the EA game is better. I disagree, but PES is no longer the clear cut dominator it once was.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: After all the hype I really wanted to love this game. But in the end I think this game epitomizes everything that is wrong with America in that it focuses on quantity instead of quality. A massive game no doubt, but taken apart and looked at for all its individual elements you are left with a game that has terrible combat and mediocre driving mechanics.

Uncharted 2: Another game I really wanted to love, but in the end was extremely let down by its mediocre combat and excessive storytelling.

The Getaway kinda let me down....it was billed as a GTA of England, and I just didn't like how it wasn't any type of health meter.

I also wished that Activision would have kept going with their "True Crime" games, and back when I worked at Midway, there were quite a few games that were in production but never materialized, like "This is Vegas", for one.

I know that wasn't what you quite asked for shakes, but that's what I was thinking.

The guy who did the voice of Jax in Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Comics was really disappointing. Worst voice-over in the history of gaming....

-Mercenaries 2 - Loved the 1st one on PS2, bought the sequel on Xbox360 and.....meh.

-Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising - Loved OFP-CWC, bought this one and....not bad, pretty good......but disappointing when compared to the original which isn't surprising seeing as Bohemia went on to do ARMA II and that game rocks.

no that's cool, it doesn't necessarily have to be a game, could be a developer's decision.

For instance, I would add the Wii's lack of HD to my list of huge disappointments. I liked the Wii when I got it and to this day Super Mario Galaxy is one of my all time favorite games, but the second I got an HD tv the Wii was thrown in a closet never to return again. And now I think of all the games I misssed because of that, Galaxy 2 and the latest Zelda game and it fills me with a huge feeling of disappointment.

I like the thread. Well done.

Let me narrow it down to recent games:

Resident Evil 5
Bioshock 2
Killzone 2
Resistance: Fall of Man
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Revelations

I good list.

I would, personally, take off Bioshock 2
-I really enjoyed AC:Brotherhood but haven't played Revelations as of yet.

Revelations is the same exact game. Could have been a $20 DLC.

Bioshock 2 follows in the same vein...besides dual wielding a plasma and a weapon, it doesn't add anything new.

I just like something new in sequels...retreads annoy me. It is why I'm vehemently against the Call of Duty series.

Plenty of reasons to be against CoD.

And I heard that about Revelations....it doesn't really reveal anything. Solid game but a let down in the context of the series.

And Bioshock didn't offer anything crazy new but I thought it was a damn good game. More of the "same" but the same is awesome in this case.

Halo 2...you could tell they had to cut content in the single player to make the release date...cliffhanger endings suck.

MVP Baseball 2004...felt like the perfect game...until you batted with a lefty for the first time...

Cruisin' USA N64 version...graphics were weak and they totally ruined "Deadwood Ride"...

Definitely GTA:4. I'd never say it was bad, but Liberty City just sucks as a location. VC and SA were so vibrant and fun being stuck in grimy, shitty LC was so bland. Again, it wasn't bad and it was certainly done magnificently, but it was just soulless.

Whichever GTA had the Russian .... I just could not get into the game for the life of me.

Bioshock 2, definitely .... although it's one of the few games I did play online.

Jeff was right ... PacMan 2600 sucked a sack of dicks.

Any Halo game, period ... I tried and tried, but nay - disappointing.

Force Unleashed II ... I wish blistering VD on everyone that had anything to do with that game.

you're out of your damn fool mind spmack, The Getaway was an awesome game, great graphics, great gameplay, driving on the other side of the road sucked, but I enjoyed the hell out of that game...

Count me as one of the ones who enjoyed GTA IV...

I liked GTA 4. I've liked all of them since the olden days. With the kids running all about the house now, I would only be able to play these types of games while they are sleeping. I donlt want to teach my son about hooker killin' until he's around over 8 years old...

You weren't in their targeted 9-12 year old boy demographic.

Shocking that it never took for you then...

T&C Surf Designs. I got that for my 8th birthday. The skateboard portion was cool, but the surfing portion fucking sucked. Complicated and impossible.

Also, Super Mario Brothers 2 and Double Dragon III for Sega Genesis.
