I'm so geeked for this game. I really was pleasantly surprised by Borderlands... I'm guessing I might be expecting too much from this one. But this is a game where it was just so much fun to co-op on. If you aren't into co-op, then I'm guessing this game won't be for you.

You sir could not be more incorrect!

I only play single player and the single player for Borderlands was amazing. What made you think it wasn't good for single player?

It was fun as a single-player, but definitely more fun playing as a group with buddies, in my opinion. It is my favorite co-op game. Lots of games dont do co-op well... this one does. And the single-player story end was abysmal. That final boss battle against that octopus/vagina thing was a) dumb b) too easy and c) didn't really set you up for anything else. I would have rather fought an army of ill-tempered clap traps.

I don't have any friends, so I thought the first one sucked. :(

I like loot... so the first one was a blast. The DLC was even better.

I thought the loot aspect was extrememly overrated. I might've found 1 gun worth using for every 300 I picked up. The other 299 were less powerful than whatever I was already using at the time.

The loot plus a great co-op experience... and I really liked the art-style.

Demo looked good yesterday.

Looks like more of the same which isn't a bad thing considering how good the first game was.

Like Dead Island.

Dead Island was a good game made better by the inclusion of co-op.

Borderlands was awesome in single player and even more awesome in co-op. Do yourself a favor, go pick up the Game of the Year Edition (which includes all DLC, awesome) and enjoy.

It's 20 bucks on consoles right now, I think. I have it on Xbox, pretty damn good.

The day I play a first person shooter on console is the day I turn in my gaming card.

I love the controller for FPS. Would be hard to go back to a keyboard. Just doesn't feel natural to use "W" "A" "S" and "D" again... feels so 1995. ;)

Which version are you guys getting? And are you interested in putting together a 4 man team for co-op?

I've never played a co-op game and am thinking about giving it a shot with this one. I just pre-ordered the game for PS3, but I can change it to the Box if that's what everyone is getting.

I can switch my pre-order to 360 so its no prob. Would you guys be interested in forming a group?

Also, what's the time committment for that? What happens if 3 of the 4 want to play but one can't make it? Can you still play with 3 and can the other person go solo for a while to catch up to the level of the teammates?

Yes.

I'm doing that with buddies on Borderlands 1. The issue though...is that I can never catch up. Everytime I get close, they've pulled ahead. Even when they try to catch me up.

So how are you liking Borderlands?

And now that you've had to play it single players as well how do you like the single player vs the multi? I'm sure you like multi more, but are you at leat enjoying the single player?

IMU, I don't think Borderlands is a great game either (apologize if I suggested that before), but it is a solid co-op experience. Perhaps it was simply that I had zero expectations for the first one, so it surprised me. But I think you are right, other than the interesting art style, there isn't anything in there that is truly unique. Just the massive amount of guns is kinda fun, but that gets a little old after you find your fav weapon.

Just got my Game Informer in the mail and Borderlands 2 scored a 9.75!

Here are a couple quotes from the review, the second one I'm posting just for IMU.

From major bullet points like the story to smaller details like the UI and inventory system, B2 surpassed my expectations and stands as a prime example of how to knock a sequal out of the park

With an entertaining antagonist, some surprising twists, and cutscenes you actually want to watch, the story is one of the many significant steps up from its predecessor.

Review sounds awesome on every level, can't wait to get my hands on it next week!

Did shakes just quote a review where they praise a game's story?

Dear God, like I'm 12 years old or something, it's all I've thought about since, oh, Saturday or so. Send me a friend invite (Don Tiny) 'cause I'll forget in all the fomenting excitement .... in my pants.

I recently have acquired PT work (back in the insurance game, a lot of old info came right back to mind!), but that's only Weds, Thurs, & Fri, so my plan is to get a nice nap in late-afternoon and go be a faggy fanboy and get mine at bloody midnight. Never in my life have I done such a thing (mostly, I guess, 'cause I had a job!), so I'm sure I'll be in full Archie Bunker mode looking at the denizens of God-knows-what waiting outside as well.

tl;dr = Yes.

I'm kinda sucky as a gamer anymore though, so be aware of that. Also, don't normally do co-op, though like Mass Effect 3 I'm sure I'll make an exception.

Okay, fine, since we're here, dumbass rambling question of the day:

How exactly does co-op function in this game? That is to say, is it essentially doing the missions with other people? If so, is that separate from the single-player missions, or will the game marry the two options into one seamless ..... seamless ..... I don't know what word I want to use .... let's say 'character progression save'.

I'll try to ask it another way ...... I believe I briefly tried co-op in the first game, didn't care a great deal for it (though as it turns out I got a really sharp cheater sniper gun ... didn't know it was initially, but that's not the point) .... anyway, I believe we were doing a mission that I had long since completed, and long story short (too late) it re-opened a quest that I had already finished and when I went back later to re-finish it again ('cause I'm slightly neurotic and wanted it off the list again), I could never finish it and it bugged the piss out of me.

So, ultimately, my question is can a person seamlessly duck in and out of co-op/single player without corrupting one's progress?

If you read all this, thank you, and please find the nearest physician for medical attention.

I think you join someone else's progression. You get to keep the XP for ranking up, but when you go back to your game, you won't have completed the missions you completed in someone else's co-op. I think it is the same way with GOW 3, right?

Hell if I know, but if your supposition is correct, that would be just fine, too. Probably the only clean, logical way to do it, really.

Started playing as Zero and just got to level 6 and not sure I like the character. But, its too early to tell so I'll stick with him for now.
