I have a Panasonic SDR-T55 that is three years old. We use it for football scouting and I have not used it since last October. I tried turning it on last night and it was taking forever for the picture screen to load. When it finally does it is covered by a black screen, that says, "Error Occurred, Please Turn Unit off then on Again." I tried this but keeps coming up with same message. I tried recharging the battery and taking it on and restarting it but nothing works. Any suggestions? Googling this camera shows you can get them for between 100-200. Im thinking of taking it to place, but my guess is it would cost almost as much to fix as a new one would cost

possibly caps inside just went bad, but i dont think you will find a repair place to do it for less then $150.

do you have the stuff to take it apart and check the esr on the caps?

Best Buy sells open box and store model camcorders for between $50 and $300. In many cases you get the camera with no accessories, but sometimes all you need is the battery and a generic one will do. Just go to the Best Buy website and look up a store and you can search all their clearance stuff. If this is a consumer camcorder that is broken the thing probably cost between $150 and $600, but it's not worth anything near that now and a repair fee is probably at least $100. So get a new one, sell the broken one on eBay if you have all your videos off of it and move on with your life.
