Took a sick day and have been watching a stream of a tournament in Germany...they are playing Hearthstone and StarCraft...and I'm really impressed with the presentation of this thing. I remember being at PAX a few years ago and the League of Legends tournament was pulling a huge crowd every day. I didn't really get it at the time, but now I do. My favorite thing about what they are doing is that a lot of the people casting the games are competitors in the tournament, so they bring a lot of knowledge to the broadcast.

I used to wish that these things being on TV would catch on like it did over in Korea, but there's no need anymore.

All it takes is a serious presentation and it becomes that much better.

Pretty much resigned to the fate that this is what I'll be doing all day today...watching some StarCraft II right now and a guy playing Terran is winning...which I didn't think was possible in this game.

Really enjoyed the Hearthstone match that just took place...loser's bracket and a guy ran a Murloc deck and beat the other guy 4-0...guy shook hands and then stormed out of the building in disgust...

Best part of this whole thing...it's being hosted at a guys studio apartment in Berlin...which is located above a pub...which is open for people to watch the tournaments while they get fucked up.

I need this to happen in the states.

Watching the intel Extreme Masters World Championship right now...StarCraft II...and they are pulling out all the stops with this presentation...have a crew for in between games, the guys in "the booth" casting the matches, and then a guy on the stage interviewing the competitors in between matches...

...oh, and it's being held at a sports arena...

This weekend is Dreamhack Bucharest in Romania...128 player Hearthstone tournament just started (sponsored by Nescafe 3-in-1...because when I think eSports, I think instant coffee mix) and will be going on all day today...not a fan that it's single elimination but it's the only way to get a tournament with so many people done in a day.

StarCraft 2 will be going on both days, so I'll be checking that out tomorrow at some point.
