Greetings, HH!!

I'm being told they're about to start drying the track again. It's hard to drive when the track is so wet. At least in Nascar.

Hi KS! I've missed you! It's been a long, terrible summer. Hoping that the change of season will bring some closure AND changes for me. :bounce:

BBM: Thank you for explaining that for me!

I am going to the track right now with a box of kitty litter and a case of paper towels.

We need to get this track drying now!! The Air Titan could have drove from Indy or Charlotte or wherever they are hiding it by now.

Sure it can.

There've been nights I wanted the Air Titan.

Just to get some sleep.

The track did not want to pay for the Air Titan to stay. Now I am pissed...

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/na ... r/2816485/

JOLIET, Ill. — NASCAR has been under a dark cloud all week, so it should come as no surprise that Sunday's Chase for the Sprint Cup opener at Chicagoland Speedway was red-flagged for a rain delay.

Persistent showers were present at the track in the hours leading up to the race, pushing back the start of the race by more than an hour. The green flag finally dropped in the season's first Chase race at 3:40 p.m. Eastern (2:40 p.m. local); the original start time was scheduled for 2:18 ET.

CHICAGOLAND: First Chase race plays key role

Joey Logano, who started the 10-race Chase ranked sixth, was on the pole and led the first 30 laps until a competition caution.

Matt Kenseth was leading at the time of the red flag — 4:45 ET — but just 109 of the scheduled 267 laps had been completed. NASCAR races aren't official until they reach the halfway point.

If the race resumes tonight, ESPN2 will carry the broadcast. ESPN signed off at 6 p.m. ET, and already is committed to show the season finale in the New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox rivalry at 8 ET.

VIEWER GUIDE: Keys to today's Geico 400

As track dryers headed back out at 6:45 ET, NASCAR senior vice president Steve O'Donnell tweeted: "Need about 1:30-1:45 to complete race. With cooler temps it will take longer to dry. Probably 2 hours #NASCAR"

Idaho-based meteorologist Brian Neudorff, who calls himself the "unofficial NASCAR weatherman," told USA TODAY Sports that scattered showers ahead of an approaching cold front would remain a threat all afternoon. Once the cold front hits — around 6-8 p.m. ET, Neudorff predicted — it will be accompanied by another hour of rain. But after the cold front moves through, he said, the skies should be clear.

"I'm not liking what I see here (for the afternoon)," Neudorff said. "That would set up a later start, but I think they could get it in if NASCAR is willing to go later."

Chicagoland Speedway has lights, so the race could potentially finish later tonight and have all 400 miles completed.

NASCAR's vaunted Air Titan, a new track drying technology, is not at Chicagoland because the track did not pay for it. NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said the Air Titan was at Chicagoland on Thursday to "condition" the track.

Most 1.5-mile racetracks take about two hours to dry.

Where else would the Air Titan need to be? Chillin in a garage in South Georgia?

I think they keep it at Talladega. Then send it to whatever track wants to pay for it...

1. Air Titan was at the track Thursday
2. Started pouring with about 20-25 laps left before halfway
3. Cheap ass track jet dryers came out an hour or so later.
4. Started pouring again
5. Cheap dryers came back out around 6:30.
6. Started pouring again. Briefly. Dryers went back in.
7. Cheap low quality dryers went back out around 7-7:30
8. Double H posted and got everybody all horned up.
9. Radar is clear, track is dry, drivers, announcers, people, you, me, The Big Chair are almost ready to go.
10. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can figure out why the AIR TITAN LEFT!!!!!! IT WAS THERE. NOW TODAY IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11. The same Air Titan that was developed to dry NASCAR tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12. It's not there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awe, thanks KS!

Nice summary!

Probably sucked for Redskins fans though.
