I have gotten into Formula One a bit as well recently. Something to be said for a sporting event that is on at 9 AM on a Saturday and is over by noon. Same reason I was digging the British Open coverage the past weekend.

I like watching Nascar because I have no idea what is going to happen from week to week. Also enjoy the applied physics at work. 43 cars vs. the track. A confined space with the restrictions of fuel capacity and tire wear. Find that the top level of stock car racing, Sprint Cup is the most competitive form of racing out there.

I do watch Formula 1 and Indy cars, even went to my first Indy 500 this year.(button 48) This years Indy was crazy since there was a new leader every other lap, the racing was very intense. It was even more wild to watch in person. Watching the races on the road courses or even temporary street circuits is less fun and exciting. What is most important on the curvy tracks is knowing the passing zones. Formula 1 does a great job breaking down how the track is divided into three sections and keeping telemetry on the action and what is happening.

As for other series, I don't have the time or inclination to watch them. If I knew somebody or was somehow connected to the action, I would tune in. Rally Trucks? Pass. The Super GT's are a fun watch but I don't get emotional following it along. I do try and catch the 24 hour races, as that is just silly and good times if one has a whole straight day to watch a race.

When I was young I rarely if ever watched NASCAR. I loved Indy cars. But as I aged and my drivers went away (Mears, Andretti etc) I gave NASCAR a shot. Mostly due to popularity and #3. Also, I enjoyed the type of racing over what Indy became. Strangely enough with the exception of some of this year NASACAR had become Indy for a little while with the car of tomorrow. All drafting and changes leads mostly on pit stops. It is better this year.

I like NASCAR because I found it on TV as a kid and for some reason just loved it. I would get my matchbox cars and paint em and put numbers on em. I would build tracks in my living room and have the cars have their own races.

I watch a little bit of Indy, but just never really took the time to get into other types. I am sure I would probably like them all.

I like NASCAR b/c it is familiar. I do like the contact between cars.

Got a look at the competition in town and made the only rational decision.
