http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/shakean ... moresports

i would like to give you a prime example here, donavon
Image

you can teach a person to fish, i mean drive, but it doesnt mean they will get fat.

johnson, as much as i cant stand him winning, is the best driver the sport has ever seen. the guy came up on dirt tracks, and dominates in a league that is ruled by chance and rigging outcomes. he is like greg maddux, he wins consistently when NOBODY should be able to.

and to say GOLF tards are atheletes but race car drivers arent? gimme a fuckin break dude. i bet jimmy johnson could bench press tiger woods.

then he goes on to say nascar IS a sport, but the players arent athletes. *shakes head*. if anything, nascar as it actually is IS NOT a sport- its wwe wrestling. but at least in nascar, the drivers use their skills to entertain.

I had respect for McNabb as an athlete. But what a comment....Bet he couldn't do what JJ does, but bet JJ can throw ball @ receivers feet.

I honestly believe that Johnson could outperform mcnabb in any athletic completion save for one-on-one or punt/pass/kick.

McNeverwonasuperbowl is a gem. He always finds a way to say or do fairly harmless dumb shit that creates discussion.

Johnson competes in (and I believe sometimes wins his age group? Maybe Dr. Ken knows) several marathons and triathlons every year.

McNabb was routinely criticized by teammates and coaches for being out of shape and fatigued in games.

We've agreed many times. Like when.....

Or when.....

Even when.....

Ok. When it came to unfunny painters, we've agreed many a time.

So that's, something??? :P

Mark Martin is still driving, right? AJ Foyt, Cale Yarborough & Richard Petty drove until their late 50's right?

Or is it the "physical skill" or "gifted" part that you wrongly consider?!?

:D

George Blanda
Rickey Henderson
Abdul-Jabbar

Old people can be athletes.

Driving a stock car at 200 mph for 500+ miles is definitely a highly trained physical skill. Johnson is about to win the whole thing for the 6th time in 7 years, so I'd say he is "gifted" at that skill.

Youngin', just wait until you're safely beyond the age of 40...and don't feel the need to try and participate in the CSFMB BBall get togethers.

Then you'll realize the true folly of that statement. I can still tell my legs to run a 4._, or my lungs to go for a full four quarters against a bunch of 20somethings....and then you just learn. You just learn...

And then you coach.

And Rickey Henderson was a freak of nature. Doesn't count. (Out of politeness I won't point out the flaws in the other two)

I feel it already, believe me.

But, like me, you probably get sore and tired driving for 4 hours at a mere 65 mph, right?

I was just today talking with my son about how stiff & painful my knees were after a quick drive down to Bloomington, IN back in June. Even another fellow old traveler shared his pain after watching me get out of the car to go check into the hotel.

Get off of my lawn dammit!

Sorry spanky, you lose. If rr, Darko, and I all agree on the same thing it must be absolute truth. Plus it's just laughable to say race car drivers are athletes.

This was specifically about Jimmie Johnson. And he clearly fits the definition I posted.

Stick-and-ball participants, fans and reporters typically express horrible points of view regarding motor sports. This is no exception.

Pictures of fatass linemen, relief pitchers and designated hitters usually make an appearance as a counterpoint rather quickly.
