OD'd yesterday. He seemed like a dick on celebrity rehab but could have been all the drugs. Curious to know what the music people think, I don't know much about Alice in Chains.

Alice in Chains was good...but they were a trainwreck...this is OD #2 for the band that I am aware of.

He was on the last season we watched of that show. Clearly a troubled human being from birth (when you hear the stories). If nothing else, this guy lived a life 99% of society doesn't see. Even if it was a short time. That doesn't make his troubled life, and death, OK. But, at least he had that going for him. Which is nice.

RIP

Security??!!?? You're looking at it. Ha.

Also, let the record show, we have an Ed reference. Loved that show! I have a $5 bet Dr. Ken. Go to the next race that allows Robby Gordon, and teabag him. It's a $5 bet, you have to do it!

Surprised he lasted this long. He was an absolute mess on that show.

He was on their first album Facelift, and their first acoustic e.p. Sap, and on their best album Dirt.
If I were to pick an album from the 90s that everyone should own, it would be Dirt.
He played bass in a rock/grunge band...

Frank, those aren't even the best albums from the bands you listed.

I was listening to Dirt the other day. I love that album. Solid from start to finish!

You're right, Yield and No Code are both better than Vs.

Of all those 90's grunge/rock bands Alice In Chains is the only one I can still tolerate. I still like hearing them where as I grow increasingly annoyed with all the others.

Maybe Doug can clarify - I don't think he is saying this is the best 90s album - but it is AIC's best album.

..and Frank - hang up on yourself

You forgot the album containing Jimmy Page's finest work in the past few decades:

And?

Metallica Black album?
Nirvana Nevermind?
Pearl Jam Ten?
Pumpkins Siamese Dream?
Green Day Dookie?
Rage Against the Machine Self Titled?
NIN Downward Spiral?

It is AICs best album and an albume that I think everyone should own.

best album of the 90s is a lot more difficult.

Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come
NIN - The Fragile
Deconstruction - self titled.
Slipknot - self titled....it was released on my birthday after all.

The songs of DS are probably better overall, but I am more of a fan of the themes on the fragile.

Plus, "concentration" is such a great song.
